The day I got stabbed in my back for trusting someone blindly

That day I decided to thoroughly scrutinize people first before trusting them and the results were shocking!

About a year ago, I went to Mc-Donald’s with two of my friends. We stayed there for about an hour and when we left, a female beggar approached us and this happened,

Beggar: I am sick for the past couple of days and I don’t even have enough money to buy a medicine. Can you please give me some money kind sir.

And then she showed me the empty tablet packet she was having with her.

Me: Ohh, Okay. How much do you want for the medicine?

Beggar: Around 80 rupees!

Me: Okay!

I was about to reach my pocket when my friend interrupted me and said.

“Man, she is lying. This is a new way of begging now a days”.

And I relied,

No man! She is asking for money for her treatment. I don't think that's a new way of begging. It's alright!"

And then I ignored him and gave her Rs. 80. She blessed me and I was happy and satisfied as well. After that, we(friends) stayed there only and started chit-chatting for a while. When we were about to go to our respective houses, my friend suddenly saw that beggar once again and said this,

"Look man, over there! Didn't I tell you?"

Yes, this time, she was asking for money from some other person by showing him the same empty packet she showed me!

My faith was destroyed. Yes, I was hurt. I know beggars devise many ways to beg but I never thought that this could be one of the ways. I thought that she was genuinely sick.

However, instead of being physically sick, she was sick, but mentally Taking advantage of someone's humane nature and then exploiting it for selfish purposes is a very dirty tactic.

I think that was my first exposure to such a thing. The most advanced level of begging I have ever seen before this event was when a beggar comes to you and says this,

"Sir, I am a refugee of XYZ country. We have to leave our homeland due to war/ some adverse conditions and are now here. We need help. Please help us".

And then they will show you a 5 or 6 months old baby in their hands that will surely melt your heart. But what I experience went a level ahead of it.

Later on, when I started scrutinizing people who asked for my help and dug deep to find their ulterior motives, I made a shocking discovery! Almost 95-98 percent of those people were asking for help just to benefit themselves in exchange for harm to some other person.

Let me give you an example from my life. One of my father's friend came to him and literally begged my father to give him the tender of a particular project. He asked my father to be sympathetic of his situation as he was going bankrupt and needs this tender at any cost.

Since my father is an honest man, he enquired about the entire situation and a shocking truth surfaced from it. Turned out that he wanted the tender just because he wanted his competitor out of the game as his competitor was going bankrupt!

I am not saying that competition is bad, but taking unfair advantage like this and making others bleed is not at all a fair thing to do.

This selfish nature and deceiving character of humans has made the society very unforgiving. This is not at all a good sign for the humanity as a whole. First, we exploited the nature and now we are doing the same to each other.

People should really stop being a two faced monsters. It is because if we continue to stay at such a high level of deceiving others, our future generations are going to go a step further as they will be learning from us, the masters of the game.
