The Artistic Owl

Untitled

Today. Today is the day. The owl is leaving home. She takes a deep breath as she gets ready to leave. She’s never known true independence due to her mother enabling her, so she decided it was time to branch out. She had it all planned out. In order to ease the blow, she told her mom that she was staying at her best friend's place for the summer. She didn't know that her life would be changed forever after that moment.

The summer started like any other, but on top of working, she got to have the time of her life. She gained freedom, plenty of friends, and most of all confidence. She did things that she never got to do while at home and in turn got to experience things most people do in earlier stages of their lives. But as the summer dwindled away, she had to settle back into her college life for her senior year. She was excited and nervous about the school year and finally telling her mother that she wasn’t returning home.

There was a string of emotions that laid on her heart, but she had to muster up the strength to own the situations that were before her. One thing that she knew was that her last year of college was going to be amazing, she could just feel it.....or so she thought. After thinking of multiple scenarios, she finally talked to her mother. Mama Owl was saddened to hear that her baby, who wasn't really a baby anymore, had decided to permanently stay living with her friend. Her mother called her every day after she found out. The young owl always assured her mom that she was alright and taking care of herself, but her mother always insisted on her moving back home!

She just wanted her mother to realize that she had grown so much since leaving home and she didn’t want to take a step back. She went forward with her last year of college, and she was so excited to be back after such an awesome summer. She already had her senior thesis ready, it was gonna be based on her summer adventures. She had a whole year to work on this project. Within the first week or so, everyone in her class had to present their ideas in front of their professors. The presentations were split into two days, Monday and Wednesday and of course she got the first day.

Once that day rolled around, the young owl was nervous, but knew that her idea was solid. She was one of the last to present and as she got started her confidence started to build. In the end, she left time for discussion and questions. Everyone was intrigued with her idea and thought that the materials that she wanted to use were gonna be helpful for her project. So over the next couple of months, she worked on her animation bit by bit. As the first semester ended, she and her classmates had to do another presentation to show their progress. She was nervous because even though she animated a little for her project, she didn’t think that she had enough to show. She focused more on her audio, so she decided to make that more of her focus for the presentation.

The presentation turned out pretty good and her semester ended with a show dedicated to her and her classmate's work in progress films. It was like a preview of what was to come in the next semester. She had the great support of friends who believed in her and her work. They made it through the various occasions where she showed her work or talked about it passionately. They also gave her incredible feedback, but there’s always next semester…….
