Friends, it is the year 2018, at that time I used to work in a private company in Delhi. We got a room from the company in which we 5 workers lived. To go to work we had to go by bus and auto, a distance of 5 kilometers.
Once it was the rainy season and I was coming back to my room after finishing my duty, when my eyes fell on a dog which had been hit by a car and that dog was suffering in pain in the heavy rain, I wanted to understand its pain. He could not be seen and I took him to the veterinary hospital where the doctor bandaged him up and handed him over to me.
I brought him to my room and took care of him but I had to go for duty and my roommate also did not like the dog. Then I explained to them that when the dog is completely fine then I will leave him back where he was. I brought it from. Everyone agreed with me, gradually the dog got better and I had to leave him even though I did not want to.
But it is said that a dog is more loyal than a human. He did not forget this favor of mine and whenever I came from work, he would wait for me, play with me and follow me, I would also give him biscuits and dog food. I named him Sheru and he always waited for me to come from job. It had been one and a half years since we started doing this and Sheru had also grown up and our friendship had also become deeper. He used to follow me to the room and my roommates would get very angry but Sheru knew this and he used to eat food. He used to go back after doing the tax.
Once I had night duty and I was coming back to my room from night duty. It was already late in the night and there was no bus or rickshaw available, so I was walking on foot when three men surrounded me at a short distance from my room. They wanted to rob me. Two of them had sharp weapons and one had a country-made pistol. I had almost considered myself dead when I heard the barking of a dog. It was Sheru who, seeing me in trouble, pounced on those men. His action gave me a chance to run away from there.
I started making loud noise due to which people gathered there and taking the opportunity, the robbers managed to escape from there. When I started looking for my Sheru to thank him, I found Sheru in a very injured condition. He was attacked several times with a sharp weapon. I immediately took him to the hospital but by then Sheru had left this world.
I cried a lot and with a very sad heart I buried him. Then I understood one thing that no matter how much you help a person, he changes with time, but even if you give a piece of bread to a dog, he does not forget that favor till his death.
