Founder Khadijah Martinez blends Puerto Rican roots with global inspiration to host transformative culinary experiences rooted in reflection, empowerment, and sisterhood.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — In a North Philadelphia neighborhood not far from where she was raised, Khadijah Martinez is redefining what it means to break bread. Her venture, Spanish Flavors, is not just a catering company — it’s a cultural movement powered by food, tea, and intentional healing.
“Spanish Flavors is my love letter to the community,” Martinez said. “I created this space so we can come together to heal, grow, and celebrate the beauty of who we are.”
A Culinary Vision Rooted in Soul and Sisterhood
Founded in Philadelphia, Spanish Flavors draws from Martinez’s Puerto Rican heritage and her passion for creating soulful spaces. She describes her offerings as internationally inspired cuisine with bold Spanish twists — but the menu is only the beginning.
Spanish Flavors regularly hosts intentional tea gatherings and curated events that center emotional wellness, reflection, and self-worth. These immersive gatherings are part culinary experience, part spiritual reset.

“Food brings people together,” Martinez said. “But when you add story, stillness, and sisterhood — that’s when it becomes transformative.”
Upcoming Events Focus on Elegance and Empowerment
This spring, Spanish Flavors will host two public events open to anyone craving connection and community:
• April 27, 2025 – A Bridgerton-themed tea party at SWA Sisters. Guests will enjoy elegant bites, high tea, and guided moments of self-care and reflection — all set against a regal, celebratory backdrop.
• May 17, 2025 – A community-centered gathering that reflects the heart of Martinez’s vision, highlighting gratitude, connection, and the stories behind her mission.
Both events will take place in Philadelphia and require advance registration via Instagram or the business website, which is currently in development.
A Personal Journey That Inspired a Cultural Brand
Martinez was born in Tampa, FL, but raised in the Kensington-Badlands area of North Philly. A pivotal visit to Tunisia, North Africa, helped crystallize her vision. There, she saw how food and tea naturally brought people together — without pretense, without barriers.
“You don’t have to go overseas to feel connection and belonging,” she said. “I wanted to bring that energy home.”
A self-taught chef with deep roots in her culture, Martinez was raised among six sisters and women who cooked with love, intention, and ancestral wisdom. Spanish Flavors, she says, is the continuation of that legacy — a place for others to feel held, seen, and inspired.
Healing Through Tea, Storytelling, and Safe Spaces
The tea gatherings offered through Spanish Flavors are far from traditional. They’re quiet but powerful ceremonies of care, especially designed for women navigating motherhood, entrepreneurship, or personal transformation.

“I haven’t felt this held in a long time,” one attendee shared. “This was more than tea — it was medicine for my spirit.”
While Spanish Flavors centers women, men are also welcome, especially those aligned with the values of emotional presence, culture, and healing. Martinez’s long-term vision includes expanding into a product line of teas and seasonings, hosting retreats, and eventually opening a physical café and tea house.
Expanding the Vision Beyond Philly
Martinez hopes to take Spanish Flavors on the road, eventually hosting gatherings in other cities and forming partnerships with wellness professionals. “Food and healing are universal,” she said. “My dream is to create pop-up spaces of culture and care across the country, wherever people need nourishment.”
A Flavorful Space for Reflection and Reconnection
For Martinez, Spanish Flavors is more than a brand — it’s a mission. As she continues to expand her events and offerings, she remains grounded in the belief that healing can be as simple as a shared meal or cup of tea.
“Let the world taste the flavor of healing, empowerment, and community,” she said. “This is Spanish Flavors.”
