After sleeping through her alarm, spilling coffee on her shirt and missing the bus for work, could this day get any worse she wondered.

As she stood in the cold rain, she contemplated how she was going to explain her morning to the boss. She started to walk down the street towards work. The hussle and bussle of the city folk always made her wonder if people ever stopped to take a breath. Just then a tall man in a dark coat and a woolen black hat bumped into her, nearly toppled her over but luckily she held her balance. He quickly walked off and blended into the mainstream foot traffic . He was gone, no apology for bumping into her, just gone, vanished into a sea of faces.

She was annoyed but was nearly at work, so she rushed the last little length to get there. Once she got inside she went to hang her own coat up in her locker. The coat hanger broke and her coat fell to the floor. Great she thought. Just then a little black book fell to the floor as she picked up her coat. What was this, who's is this?.

She was stumped and bewildered. Then remembered the man who bumped into her. She didn't get to look at this face, didn't know his name, knew nothing about him.

She opened the little black book to the first page and it had in big black letters "Today is your lucky day". Hmmmm she thought "if only"

The next page of the little black book had a tiny envelope stapled to the top of the page. Intrigued, she opened the little envelope and found a key. nothing else, no notes, no writing, just a gold key with a red flower on the top of the key, almost like a symbol.

Now she really was confused. "What is this key for and how will this make it my lucky day." She put the key in her pocket and got stuck into her work trying to put it out of her mind. She couldn't get it out of her mind and struggled to maintain focus. All she could think about was that red flower. Had she seen that symbol before?

More than half the day had passed when a courier driver entered through the door. He had a small package and put it on the counter. Without a second thought she signed for the package. When she looked at the parcel it was wrapped in white paper with a single red flower on it. No name, No sender, just a single red flower............. Exactly the same flower on the key in her pocket.

Her mind raced "how could that be, Is there a connection? maybe it is a coincidence?". She went to the tea room with the package. Her suspense was killing her and she debated whether to open the package or not. Finally she decided she would open the package.

She took of the paper and unwrapped the package. It was a small tin about the size of a brick with a key lock on it, nothing else but a single red flower. Excitement and adrenalin was now running through her body, she couldn't contain it any longer.

She took the key from her pocket, took a deep breath and put it into the locked tin. She hesitated trying to grab some sort of thought that seemed logical. She turned the key and she heard a sharp click.

To her amazement, the tin lid sprung open. Inside was a large amount of crisp notes neatly placed in the tin. She nearly fainted with the sight of all that money. She had never seen that much money before. She shut the tin lid quickly and put the tin in her bag.

Now what was she to do, She didn't know the man, she didn't know who the package was for, and now she didn't know whose money that was. She couldn't believe how her day had turned out, from going to having such a bad morning to now finding money seemingly been put in front of her. She took a minute to silently daydream on what she could use all that money for, who she could help in her family, could buy all the things she has never been able to afford. Luckily it was coming close to the end of her work day.

As she headed home, her mind was all over the place, she didn't know what to do and her emotions ran from confused to surprised to worried. Then suddenly she saw a sign in a shop window that she passes everyday but had never noticed the sign before. It had the same single red flower on the sign with the words "flowers are a gift to keep".

An overwhelming feeling of relief and gratitude rushed over her whole body. She instantly knew that this was meant for her and realised that today really was her lucky day.
