Sell out or Buy out

maybe thrown out

Everything is on fire

Companies get bought out all the time, it happens. This is my story, I would love to hear others experiences on what happened to them.

I started with this NYC company 12 years ago, it was very small and I started part time, I was desperate and unemployed. The owner had 3 or 4 sales people, 2 demo girls, and one driver. He had some ideas and a horrible website. I brought his ideas to life, I made them bigger than life, I grew his sampling team, built him a merchandising team, designed a website that made sense. His business grew, I became full time, I grew in this business, I was at the very top, hiring, making things happen. When you do this, well you have people nipping at your heals. Those green eyed monsters, those two-faced people, they are in every company. This is a sales business but I am a no BS gal, I tell the vendors the truth, I don't sugar coat anything. Do your job, great, don't good bye. I go on my instincts 100%, they never steered me wrong, what I don't like is the lack of communications, the lies or lack of transparency and this, this is what I am struggling with daily.

In many ways I suppose this is my fault for promoting the wrong people, or hiring the wrong people. The green eyed monsters nipping at my heels, able to sell that BS and selling it to my boss who eats it write up and tosses my aside and gives credit to that green eyed monster and others. Even though, most know that I built a lot of this for him he hands the credit to other employees. Mind you, we are a team, mind you, all bonuses are only made by the sales reps and merchandisers NEVER had I received a raise on my own merit, work or creativity- not for 10 years.

So when the green eyed monster makes an app with a software company and literally has no idea what he is doing and they have to bring me in, it is still all praises to him. (I just want to note, I made an app years before on my own and was told to trash it)

Most might be saying, why didn't you look for another job, OMG!

I have, I have always wanted to work in another field and tried, we even fought about it and apparently a company called and mentioned they got my resume from indeed (so my boss said) and I never heard from that company. I don't know if it was him or the so - called HR woman (who I also hired) who has zero HR experience and was hired just to do payroll. Well, sabotage comes to mind there (or paranoia) but I haven't given up.

Now I might be ranting but it is important to state that she has zero HR experience because this is titled buy out/sell out. I choose not to use names, because I don't have too, maybe in time I will.

Once upon a time, I loved this job, felt my boss was family, so I am not just angry, but hurt, disappointed and sad; I guess for him, 5.5 million can wipe away any care in the world.

I have been tossed in the trash, once COO, now Sales Operations, WTF title is that, it is a title that is easily tossed out when the new company fully takes over. It is a title that means - I don't know what to do with her. While Green Eyed Monster keeps his title, Ms. co-dependent HR I hear may lose her job but is getting a super nice package and already has a crap load of money so there is no small violin playing for her. Not to mention she has lied to every single employee during this transition and new hire and ethically should be ashamed of herself and shouldn't be able to look at herself in the mirror. I mean- she is hiring people on false pretenses, having them quit their jobs, IMMEDIATELY (NO TWO WEEKS) and we do not have work for them! They just want it to appear that we have people on the streets in these areas and these people quit perfectly good jobs not knowing this, and what if it falls apart, they are left with nothing! She knows this and is willingly allowing this to happen. Grow some balls and say no!

Honestly, I do hope it all falls apart and the sale doesn't go through, I do hope that they see that this is unethical and fraud. On their end though, I am not sure where I stand on their methods, forcing us to configure security apps on our computers. Which certainly feels like an invasion of privacy, and now I am not quite sure if it was our side or theirs but changing all our sales and reps from salary to hourly. But again, whoever, that is wrong. My company ("HR") told them it would all stay the same, that is not staying the same, that is in fact, totally different and can really effect their livelihood.

So is this a sell out? I think so, I don't think my boss had anyones back and wallet but his own in this and once he has that money, and he is out the door than the hell to us.

Me? Well, I guess I am hoping I am out the door first by my own choice. Hoping it is in the field I want to be in, I can afford to support my family.

I will continue to advocate for what I believe in and never fall to such disgrace as these people. I was proud to be part of something, I am still proud to be strong and advocate and as long as I am still here, I will run an honest company from my end.
