Migrant workers in Salem

The city police conducted a meeting with migrant workers at Linemedu on Thursday.

City Police Commissioner B. Vijayakumari presided over the meeting. Migrant workers, who attended the meeting, said that they feel safe in Salem.

The Commissioner said that recently some people spread rumours about migrant workers. The workers should tell their families they are safe here. If the workers encounter any difficulties, they shall contact the police, Ms. Vijayakumari added.

More than 100 migrant workers participated.

Salem Railway Division registers 17% growth in freight and parcel loadings and earns ₹14.65 crore through ticket checking drives

The division loaded 28,81,722 tonnes of freight during the period, earning ₹282.58 crore. During April 2021–February 2022, the division earned ₹241.47 crore.

The division earned 17.02% more revenue during April 2022–February 2023 as compared to the corresponding period last year. The freight includes petroleum products, cement, iron and steel blooms, and containers.

Petroleum products were loaded at Irugur and transported to places such as Mysuru, Bengaluru, Gooty, and Raichur. The cement, loaded at Palayam and Virarakkiyam, near Karur, was moved to various destinations, such as Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Irugur, Kudal Nagar (Madurai), Tirunelveli, and places in Kerala and Karnataka.

Iron and steel blooms were loaded at Mecheri Road and carried to Karaikal Port, Chennai Harbour, Mormugao Harbour, Ahmedabad, etc.

Likewise, the division loaded 4,08,307 quintals of parcels during April 2022–February 2023, through which it earned ₹21.49 crore.

During the same corresponding period last year, the division loaded 3,33,020 quintals of parcels and earned ₹19.26 crore.

Salem division loaded 22.61% more parcels and earned 11.56% more revenue during April 2022–February 2023 as compared with the same period last year.

Aadhaar-PAN Card Linking Deadline Ends Soon: Do It Before March 31 Or Face These Consequences

New Delhi: The income tax administration has repeatedly extended the window for linking PAN cards with Aadhaar cards during the past few months. The necessary documents must now be linked by March 31, 2023.

By failing to link their PAN card with their Aadhaar card by March 31, 2023, PAN card holders will be left with an invalid PAN, according to the income tax department.

Since linking your Permanent Account Number (PAN) and Aadhaar number has been made necessary by the government, the PAN-Aadhaar connection is essentially the process of doing so.

“Please don’t delay, link it today! As per the I-T Act, it is mandatory for all PAN-holders who do not fall under the exempt category, to link their permanent account numbers (PAN) with Aadhaar before March 31, 2023. From April 1, 2023, the unlinked PAN shall become inoperative,” a public advisory issued by the I-T Department on Twitter reads.
