Why have you found it so hard to relax?

You relax on a plane, even though you don't know the pilot. You relax on a ship even though you don't know the captain. You relax on a bus even though you don't know the driver. Why don't you relax in life, knowing that God is in control?

Relaxing is hard when you are so used to working and moving around all the time. You relax on a plane, even though you do not know the pilot, and this is extremely interesting because you are literally thousands of feet in the air with nothing holding you up except a piece of metal with wings and an engine, but you can relax on it.

You relax on a ship even though you do not know the captain. You are surrounded by miles and miles of water, and most people don't even know how to swim, yet we are quick to take a cruise and feel comfortable. You don't know for sure whether you'll make it to your destination safely, but we still go on that cruise.

You can relax on a bus even though you do not know who the driver is. Where they are coming from, or even what their background is, makes you comfortable enough to ride the bus. I say all of this to say that the same way we all go on planes, go on ships, get on buses, and let's not leave out trains, everyone who is driving these items, you don't know any of them, but you trust them enough to get you where you need to go in life. Relaxing in all of these situations is basically testing your faith in yourself to see if you can or would do it.

I will be the first to say that I never thought I would be the one driving a car in my fifties, but here I am. Of course, I haven't driven on the highway yet, but I know I will get there, and in the meantime, I am enjoying being able to drive, even if it is only a short distance. At first I was nervous, and I used to panic so badly, but I have to learn that I and my car are one. My accountability partner taught me this trick, and it is true: the more I drive, the more I realize that, as long as I have brakes, I can stop.

The world has got all of us moving like we are in a race against time, and I guess to a degree we are, but in those moments when you do have some downtime to relax, do you actually chill, or do you rush through one thing to get started on something else? We all have to learn that our best investment in this world is ourselves, so if we keep running ourselves down for a job or just letting other people pull us in all kinds of directions, we will never know what it truly means to relax and chill.

I have mastered the art of relaxing because when I have a day off from work, I handle most of my business early in the morning so that I can enjoy the rest of my day off without interruptions from others. In my world, the only way you get access to me is if I allow it. If I don't, I don't trust you. I do not compromise on my peace, and I love that about myself.

All of us in this world have the ability to change the way the think and feel about ourselves but the trick is knowing how to stay consitant with what your words say. So to keep it simple, if you are not putting action behind your words you are going to stay in that mental negative head space and truest me when I say noone can get you out of that but you.
