Speaking about the troubling state of Nigeria right now, Frank Edoho said:
FRANK EDOHO: Anywhere I go, you see a mob of people coming to beg. It shows that the nation is not doing well, although some hypocritical people like giving the impression that, "Oh, Nigeria is doing great."
Nigeria isn’t doing great because if you look at the people on the streets, you will find out. I mean, you give somebody 500 naira, and you see the profuse gratitude that comes out of them—it shows that this country is heading towards penury.
Yet, in spite of everything, Nigerians remain generous. That same person you gave 500 naira will look around, see someone else who is hungry, and say, "Okay, you know what? I have 200 naira out of my 500—take."
We are very generous people.
And then when asked if he would ever choose to relocate and leave the country, Frank Edoho said:
FRANK EDOHO: No, I wouldn't.
If I go to a country that's already structured, that means I have to start from the dregs. You can't do that. I'm sorry. I'd rather stay here and see if I can make it work.
I see that the place where opportunity is vast is a place that is not very well developed. I'm not saying Nigeria is not developed, but what I'm saying is that in terms of structure, we still have a lot of work to do.
So, I’d rather emboss my name in the building blocks of development than go and try to etch my impact—just a bit—on an already structured society.
That's what I feel.
Reacting to his words, reactions were mixed. Some agreed saying "I agree with him completely. Don't let anybody finesse you out of position" while others disagreed saying "Speaking English. Hunger will change your answer."
