Reason First: Not Comforted by Prayers
Why would anyone pray?
Like many people within the current culture, Jas Prince, son of Rap-A-Lot Records mogul J. Prince, called for prayers to be lifted up in this case. Since there is no God, there is no reason to pray. However, when tragedy strikes and emotions run high, the feeling to offer up lamentations to the unknown and unknowable seems fitting to many.
It is not, but the point is that the majority of Americans, hell, the world subscribe to some kind of mystical force that is outside of the bounds of the universe. Everything real is either from nature or man-made, which came from nature.
Takeoff is not returning to a heavenly home, his cells may still be alive but he no longer lives. This is what is hard for most people to deal with on that level.
Jas Prince, like billions of other people, meant no harm in his statement although it is probably the most destructive thing to say. That some God is governing, or to Deists, has created and stepped back from human affairs, is to say that free will is bestowed upon humanity by such a deity. In reality, free-will is totally man-made and applies to every act a human could take.
As with the Abrahamic faiths of the world, (Christianity, Judaism, Islam) folks have allowed the belief of ghouls and goblins to pervade their minds.
Takeoff perished like so many others as a result of science. His wounds to the head, torso, and arm precipitated his death. It is a natural fact that the cessation of all bodily functions necessitates demise.
To say there’s some kind of God who sits high and looks low is an affront to the rational, thinking brain. While it ought to be permitted for people to believe in telephone poles as their gateway to the hereafter, the fact remains that eternity is here and now.
Death doesn’t matter. Life does. It is the only distinguishing factor between the active mind and body and the grave or urn. And that’s life, by the way. Simply living is not enough. To be brain dead with all your other organs still functioning is not a life. The living part only shows the blips on a chart like tiny strikes of lightning signifying a living person. In truth, they are still dead to the world even though their body would say otherwise.
God is one of the worst and best concepts ever created by man. The former shows the ugliness that faith can cause (September 11, 2001, African civil wars, Buddhist self-immolation) and the latter shows how far human beings have come from caves and trees (unifying Greek and Roman gods into a single ideal).
But the time has come for us to do away with God. He’s like the imaginary friend that we never claimed we imagined. Somehow, we wrote ancient texts and proclaimed through millennia that such an entity was real.
Takeoff is going to have a service full of chants to a “higher power” and more and more prayers. Prayers for his family, prayers for his friends, prayers to the vile person who claimed his life.
That’s probably the most pernicious aspect out of all this, especially with Christians. They’re quick to pray for forgiveness to the assailant(s). A man or woman could be on death row and as long as they pray the crime away, the criminal can be escorted to the gates of heaven where St. Peter would be more than happy to let them enter the pearly gates to walk the streets of gold. This is what the rational are up against. There’s little to no chatter about how heaven or hell formed. They just “are” according to scriptures.
There’s a catchall for most people. Some people like Josef Mengele and King Leopold II of Belgium most certainly have a place in hell. Most likely. Even the power of prayer to believers could redeem their corrupted souls.
So, Takeoff will have plenty of silent and vociferous prayers spoken over him. Even though there is no natural reason for prayer, in order to fight against such acts, it is important to not affect people but infect them with reason.
