Reason First: Does Nicki Minaj Attract Bad Behavior?

It would seem that Nicki Minaj would find a squeaky clean person to call husband. Instead, she married a convicted felon. Kenneth Petty has been forced to wear an ankle bracelet as a result of not registering as a sex offender. This stems from a 1995 sentence where he spent four years behind the wall for first-degree attempted rape. It appears as though Nicki Minaj’s penchant for “bad boys” has continued with her current marriage.

Before her nuptials, she had dated rapper Meek Mill who had legal woes of his own. Nicki Minaj has sought out the criminals possibly to boost her street credibility. Yes, she grew up in Southside Jamaica, Queens. But she has no rap sheet to speak of to include her raps. Her own brother was sentenced to 25 years to life for rape of a child. While all of this swirls around the rap superstar, she must decide whether she wants to continue to associate with criminals. Especially, she should consider whether she wants to support convicted males who have sexual assault cases on their records.

By not registering as an offender, it appears as if Petty is trying to run away from the reality of his past. But his past will wipe him out every time. Nicki Minaj must feel a certain kind of way about her spouse, her former rapper boyfriend, and her brother. With all of these men in and out of her life who have found themselves on the wrong side of the law, it ought to give her pause. Why would she continue on her relationship with Petty knowing that he is a vicious convict? Does she fill up her brother’s commissary and visit him from time to time? Because of the seriousness of the crimes that these men have committed, Nicki Minaj may just leave them behind altogether.

It is possible for people to change for the positive but with Petty’s recent arrest, it would appear as if he hasn’t learned his lesson. Like a Pavlovian dog who salivates at the idea of getting into trouble, Petty seems to crave having the cuffs of justice wrapped around his wrists. He might even, allegedly, have put Nicki Minaj back in the spotlight on purpose to keep her name active in the game as her luster continues to fade.

As Petty looks down a decade for dropping the ball on stating that he committed a sex offense to Californian law enforcement, Nicki Minaj is stuck emoting over the fact that she is connected to all of these violators. Her rhymes of being involved romantically with non-forceful drug dealers pale in comparison to her brother, former boyfriend, and husband’s true crime behaviors. All Nick Minaj has to do now is request a divorce, find a Silicon Valley billionaire with a clean record, and live out the rest of her days in splendor. Rather than to go through the motions of trying to “change” Petty into a better man, she should focus on improving her life with a new divorce and betroth.

What Nicki Minaj may fail to realize is that she will forever be linked to these men. Even if she does find new love elsewhere, she will be tied down in some way or another with disgusting criminals. These males have committed crimes that have warranted their convictions. She hasn’t even been found guilty of stealing a pack of Newports. While her sometimes gruff sometimes sweet sometimes overbearing persona may stimulate some to think that she is a queen pin in the drug game, it is a fact that Nicki Minaj’s record is cleaner than a fresh tube of toothpaste.

Maybe she’ll remember that the fleas that she may wake up with may not have been worth laying down with a dirty dog.
