Pizza by the Lake

It's a Thursday evening and Derek Santiago is getting ready to take his girlfriend of five months on a cute, romantic date. Mind you it has been a few weeks since they have been able to go on one so he wanted this date to be absolutely perfect. I mean he thought his Queen deserved it after all. Derek has all these plans and ideas racing through his head. Each and every single one is going to be a surprise. His girlfriend had no clue, just that she is going to be picked up at 4 pm.

Derek starts getting ready by taking a nice hot long shower. The steam fogging up the bathroom window and mirror above the sink. Music from his phone playing throughout the room. Derek sings away as he washes up. After his shower Derek dries off and starts to get dressed. First he puts on some underwear. Then he slides on a nice pair of blue jeans that fit perfectly. He walks over to his closet to pick out a shirt. Derek decides on a medium grey polo with two buttons not buttoned. He sprays on some Nautica cologne and heads back to the bathroom to brush his perfectly straight teeth. He rinses his mouth and checks the mirror one last time to make sure he looks okay before grabbing his keys, phone, and wallet to quickly run out the door.

Once he settles in his car Derek sends Carmen his girlfriend a message to tell her that he is on his way. He throws the gears into first and speeds off. Switching between the gears until he reaches sixth gear as he drive along. She only lives about 30 minutes away from him and the drive is all back roads to her house. His thoughts are of her and what she could possibly be wearing tonight for the date. No matter what she chooses though he knows that she will look absolutely stunning no matter what.

Derek pulls up to Carmen's driveway. She is already there waiting for him. Her dark brown hair is down, falling loosely on her shoulders. She is in a pair of all black leggings with a red patterned blouse for her shirt. She had on her maroon colored jogging shoes and draped over her shoulder was a khaki colored purse. A smile spread across her lips as she saw his car pull into the drive.

She gave him a little wave as he parked the car. He gets out of the car as she walks over to him and reaches his arms out to embrace her in a tight and warm hug. He walked over to the passenger side and opened the door for her. She climbs into the seat and buckles as he shuts the door and climbs back in on the drivers side.

Derek then backs out of the driveway and heads down the street heading back in the other direction. Carmen still has no idea where he is headed. She grabs his phone and starts controlling the music that is playing on the radio. She saves their song for last. After about 20 minutes he pulls up to an old town pizza place where they pick up their favorite, chicken bacon and ranch pizza. Then they get back in the car and head to his next surprise.

Not too far down the road, Derek pulls into a small parking lot that sits right in front of a lake. They laugh, they eat getting stuffed, and they watch the sunset, ending the night with a kiss. Carmen felt happier than ever. You can tell that this couple needed this.
