On a Brisk Michigan Night

She gave Me Warmth and Comfort

By Jay LeTron DobbinsPublished 8 months ago Updated 8 months ago 3 min read

Call me crazy, or just a pure genius! I do know that I will go to sleep with a clear and light consciousness after knowing my job was done! Now seeing and not saying anything is a major crime in over 300 cities in our great land! So call me to fight the crime, forget Batman!

Like a formation of birds flying south as the autumn season takes backstage to cooler days! Somehow I could still feel your heat, from the warmth and the power of your sun rays!

Yes, I arranged 200 plus songs for you and even shed a tear on one! Why should I try less, when I know you could be the one?

Stop caring what people think so long ago! That old thinking held up many great things for me and I missed out on my show!

Sent you random flowers and didn’t blink twice! My plans are simple, mistletoe by December would be very nice!

It’s my hopeless plea to somehow get you to see! I know your schedule is very demanding and the pecking order is less in my favor, but I’m here patiently!

On a great Michigan night, you give me a gentle warm breeze! I know you can be too welcoming! Just know you bring me to my knees!

To stand in front of a room of millions would be no problem confessing to thee! Please forgive me that I’m working on the courage and thinking about the dream if my chances draw you next to me!

Honestly, I can be as innocent as the October fresh snow on Woodward avenue! However your warmth can bring balance to me and make me just like new!

Again, I’m sure you have everything to loose and I completely understand your skepticism and hesitation. Just open one door and trust me I’ll show you a part of me with a clear path to your heart is my destination!

I see you moving rapidly in your lane of life! As the leaves drop slowly and the seasons change, just kindly ask of you to fix your frequency on my range.

No, not trying to win you with words or luv-bombing techniques! I just want to stop rhyming and let you know who I am from head to feet:

Look (one of my sons use to say Nook)! I have enough mental awareness of who you are and the risk of you even giving me a chance! My head is in the right place and I know that things take time! I just want to intentional in all things I do!

My heart is pure gold and I know everyone says this! I have done some things that I was not proud of in the past and my heart has passed this pain on. I now have boundaries and no longer put myself in abusive situations, or want to be a part of anything connected to abuse.

I am secure in who I am and understand who you are. Can we find each other morally and work on everything else? This is a much needed conversation!

Last, my feet can stay firm to the ground! I stand on who I am and that is all I have at the end of the day!

So the flowers are just a token of me saying hello! Nothing more! I hope that this doesn’t offend you and you find space to consider that you have someone in me in me willing to put in the effort and give you a solid man to one day love!

That is all! I hope you receive this well! Blessings and peace!

This is quite a passionate piece. You talk about doing your job and not caring what others think. I can relate to that in my work. You also mention sending flowers and having a simple plan with mistletoe. Made me wonder, what kind of job do you have that makes you feel so fulfilled when it's done? And how do you stay true to yourself despite others' opinions?
