Noelle Prosequi: The prosecution decides to withdraw the charge

How a legal term boosted my understanding of my personal faith.

No prosecution

I was watching the Peacock soap opera Days of Our Lives this morning when a Latin phrase, Noelle Prosequi gave me clarity in my personal faith in Jesus Christ. This article is part of my journey and is not an attempt to influence anyone else's faith or lack there of.

While many look for validation of their personal beliefs in churches, mosques and synagogues I allow my Creator to speak when and where He will. On DOOL the character Belle Black was the District Attorney and the prosecuting attorney in a court case.

Just as the jury was about to render the verdict Kristen Dimera (Stacy Haiduk) burst into the courtroom to announce that her nephew Johnny Dimera (Carson Boatman) was innocent of shooting his father EJ Dimera (Daniel Feuerriegel). Kristen lied that she shot her brother to protect her ten-year-old daughter Rachel Black ( Alice Halsey) who actually pulled the trigger.

DA Black said she wanted to enter a noelle prosequi which means she will no longer pursue prosecuting Johnny. When she said that I felt the words in my spirit and began to cry because they validated my beliefs.

Christianity has been made about so many things and sadly some are rooted in hate and intolerance. In that moment I realize that the faith of my choice was about one thing: Choosing to believe that the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ has pardoned my sins and our adversary-our accuser Satan has to say noelle prosequi.

In that moment I cried out of thanksgiving and also sorrow for people who are persecuted because they have a different belief or live a lifestyle that not everyone approves of.

The right to choose

I felt ashamed that so many Christians have misused and abused their faith by trying to force it on others or destine people to hell who don't live as they live. I thought about Biggie Smalls-The Notorious Big whose song lyrics state:

When I die, fuck it, I wanna go to hell

'Cause I'm a piece of shit, it ain't hard to fuckin' tell

It don't make sense, goin' to heaven with the goodie-goodies Dressed in white, I like black Timbs and black hoodies

God'll prob'ly have me on some real strict shit

No sleepin' all day, no gettin' my dick licked

Hangin' with the goodie-goodies, loungin' in paradise

Fuck that shit, I wanna tote guns and shoot dice (You talkin' some crazy shit now, nigga)

All my life I been considered as the worst

Biggie had a right to believe what he wanted live what he chose and face whatever consequences are in the afterlife.

Share don't judge

I am not judging anyone because we all make mistakes but I wonder if more believers presented the simple message of noelle prosequi would there be less hostility toward Christ.

We don't see attacks on the leaders of other faith systems as we do Jesus. In movies when people swear they shout "Jesus Christ" or Jesus efin Christ." You don't hear anyone use the names Mohamed, or Buddha. Is the lack of respect for the One Christians believe to be the Son of God because of the way we have presented Him to others?

Was Biggie Smalls and those who think like he did turned off by aggressive proselyting or judgmental accusations?

Again this article is simply to give the readers something to consider and make them go "Hmm." Whether people believe in Judaism, are Jehovah's Witnesses, Atheist, Agnostic, Muslim, Wiccan or something different is their choice.

Perhaps it's time those who call themselves Christians take a long hard look at what they are saying that turns so many people away. Rather than forcing beliefs on others wait until an opportunity to share faith with a willing listener arises.

Maybe instead of judging specific "sins," and expounding on hellfire and brimstone we should stick to the simple message of the love of Christ. Thank you for reading and consider how you present you beliefs or non beliefs to others.

Are you wining people to your side or causing them to revolt like Biggie Smalls. I'm amazed that a soap opera gave me the revelation of the simplicity of what I believe. Noelle Prosequi no prosecution for my sins.
