Nancy Isime and Ini Edo Get Honest About Peter Okoye’s Acting in Shanty Town
The ladies of Shanty Town discuss

Nigerians and lovers of Nollywood are still talking about the latest released hit Netflix project, Shanty Town, which thrilled, shocked, and entertained viewers around the world. The show has gotten a lot of feedback: some very harsh ones because of the show's explicit nature, and some very positive ones because of stellar performances by actors like Chidi Mokeme and Big Brother winner, Mercy Eke.
One actor though that has gotten a lot of negative feedback about their performance on the show is the very famous musician turned actor on this project, Peter Okoye of the very popular musical duo P-Square. Peter Okoye's acting on this show was...very much something, and the internet has been very vocal and brutal about their thoughts on his performance. Now, during a new interview with actors Ini Edo, and Nancy Isime who played his love interest on the show, both women discuss Peter Okoye's acting performance as well as Nancy Isime's role as Shalewa on the show. Here's what was said.

Speaking about Nancy Isime's performance as Shalewa as well as the acting performance of her love interest, Peter Okoye, both ladies said in their discussion:
INI EDO: Would you say that there are any similarities between you and your character on the show? Do you think Nancy Isime is similar to Shalewa in any way?
NANCY ISIME: Uh, careerwise, no. Thankfully. Yeah, I think Shalewa is a kind girl. She really is a sweet girl. She found herself in that career path not by her making but because of some situations that happened. So similarity wise will be the fact that I feel like I'm also kind. I see myself as kind.
INI EDO: The other part of Shalewa you don't see?
NANCY ISIME: No. Shalewa is crass. But she's also, when she speaks English, it's like ah ah.
INI EDO: She has dual personalities. She switches. She's sort of the girl you listen to right now and then somebody else, and you're like woah, did you? Was that her? So your character was pretty interesting.
NANCY ISIME: Yes. And I'm glad I could put all the sides to her.
INI EDO: Yeah, then you had a very interesting partner. Interesting love interest.
NANCY ISIME: Yeah, Peter. Working with Peter was you know, so...it was two sides. He's a first time actor but his willingness to actually put in a 100. For every first time actor, my first acting, I honestly, I didn't know what I was doing. I didn't want to listen to my voice.
INI EDO: Besides he's not even an actor, he's a musician.
NANCY ISIME: He's a musician!
INI EDO: He really kicked himself in the back.
NANCY ISIME: But he's so... he killed it. I think he killed it.
INI EDO: He killed it.
