Moon and Sun
A Little Black Book guides two soulmates together.

Once upon a time,
There was a moon and a sun
They loved each other so much
But
They could only meet once a day
One day, the sun ran out of light
One day, the moon began to disappear
All they longed for, was a life with each other.
Once upon a time,
There was a bird and a lion
The bird, she was as free as the abundant sky
The lion, always confident in his existence
One day, the lion and the bird met
The bird looked at the lion, as if remembering something
As the lion finally met the bird’s gaze,
All the memories of the past arrived
The moon and sun.
They were finally back together.
Unfortunately, a spirit, named Talu, would intervene.
Talu was a Lord of the Evil Wetiko.
The Wetiko were spirits that caused evil in the universe.
The Wetiko invaded the world to destroy and manipulate.
The lion and the bird were both hunted down, until they were captured and finished off.
All they longed for, was each other.
June 2019, Riverdale, Maryland.
Viento Huerta, age 20, college student, part time server.
His second year of College had just finished.
Summer break had now begun.
Viento’s family had been struggling throughout most of their life.
His Mom, Teresa, working a full time job to support the family.
His Father, Bernardo, passed away young.
His older brother, Cesar, was incarcerated for theft.
And his youngest sister, Melissa, was a full time otaku in high school with no serious worries quite yet.
In Riverdale, it gets hard to make a living.
Some days, people get robbed, some days people get shot, and everyday, there’s a new guy going to the nearby liquor store.
To his mom, compared to her life in Mexico, this probably wasn’t as hard, work wise.
Even then, Viento knew he had to get out of there as soon as possible, he was going to find a way.
Maybe Lady Luck will be on his side?
Viento just finished another day of work.
After work, he went to go buy his usual after work smoothie.
He arrived at the local 8-Twelve and went to the smoothie section of the store.
He then went to the front counter to purchase the smoothie.
As he was about to leave, it suddenly dawned upon him,
“Why don’t I buy a scratch off ticket?”
Viento then bought the ticket to see if Lady Luck was on his side.
Viento began scratching off the ticket and suddenly,
He dropped the smoothie because,
He just won the $20,000 grand prize...
“OHHHHHHHHHH!”, Viento internally screamed.
The instructions to get the grand prize stated “Go to Express Winners, located in Lanham, Maryland.”
Without hesitation, Viento called himself a Zuverr, taxi service, on his phone and he was off.
He arrived at the building and he got the money in a direct deposit to his account.
No drama, no “maybe someone will steal the money!”, nothing.
He was as free as a bird, a moon even.
He returned home and told his family.
They were ecstatic.
Melissa yelled out, “yaayyy, now I can get all the new anime I always wanted!”
Viento immediately poked her forehead in disapproval.
Teresa smiled and with teary eyes said, “things will be a lot easier now, thank you.”
She seemed relieved.
She’s worked so hard her entire life.
Always strong, always with a smile on her face, she deserved it.
It’s as if they could finally catch a break...
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
Viento went towards the door and opened it.
There was nobody there...
Although, there was something left behind.
It was a little black book.
Melissa immediately went into a panic and said, “heck no! This is one of those killer notes, where if your name gets written in it, you die! Or maybe if you open it, you die! Viento, don’t touch it, I’ve seen it too many times, Do Not Touch That Book!”
Viento was suspicious, but he also knew Melissa’s claims were highly exaggerated.
Viento not only touched the book, he opened it.
In the book it said, “Go to the Meteor Music Festival in New York, the Sun will be waiting for you there...”
There was nothing else written.
A strong feeling in his heart was present.
Something, no, somebody, was waiting for him.
Teresa looked at the book and maybe she felt its importance, so she said,
“Why don’t we all go to New York for vacation.”
“Eh?”, both Melissa and Viento muttered
“WAIT, REALLY?!??”
Melissa screamed out and then hugged their mom.
“Are you serious! You’re the best mom ever!”, as Melissa put her face all over her and cuddled her.
“It’s fine, it’s fine, we’ve all been working hard, so we should go.” Teresa said with joy.
It was decided then.
A week went by and so they arrived in New York City.
Teresa took a 7 day vacation from work.
Melissa, being it summer break, had nothing to worry about.
While Viento bought himself a ticket to the Meteor Music Festival.
Everything was planned out.
The Festival was held in Randall’s Island just outside of NYC.
Teresa and Melissa would look around the city, while Viento walked towards 34th street, where he then took the festival ferry that came along with the ticket, to the Island.
The ride there was a spectacle on its own.

Viento had arrived on the island now.
It was filled with endless people.
Some people shirtless, some people dancing and others just taking in the music.
Viento sat by a hill in the grass and from time to time, would go to music events.
What exactly was his mission here?
He loved looking at the sky, he loved the feeling of the sun, but eventually it disappears.
Time passed by and eventually,
Day turned into night.
“What am I even doing here..“
As Viento reminisced about his situation, he saw someone.
She was looking around.
Suddenly, eye contact.
Viento’s eyes widened
The girl’s eyes widened.
All they could do was look.
They were lost in each other’s eyes.
Silence fell upon them.
Wind blew as it knocked Viento’s semi long hair onto one of his eyes.
The girl’s long hair was also moved by the wind.
Viento was about to say something when she blurted out,
“You’re the guy right?!!!”
She seemed excited.
Viento felt the nostalgia in the air.
“You're definitely the one I’ve been looking for”, Viento said in a soft tone, while looking at her with deep love.
She proceeded to sit next to him.
They sat there and just looked at the night sky together.
Their presence alone was the most beautiful feeling in existence.
“It’s so beautiful..”, the girl said, as she looked up at the sky.
“Go out with me, I’ve been waiting a thousand years.”, Viento said while looking at the girl.
“EHH?? WAIT WAIT WAIT! You don’t even know my name yet, and besides we technically just met and besides technically you were a bird too right and you were a girl bird and I was a male lion so why are you a boy now and I’m a girl, also, also, also! Uh.... hold on! You’re throwing the biggest thing first!”
“What’s your name then? I’m Viento, by the way. Plus, this world is definitely way too crazy, we were birds and lions and probably bugs and cats and dogs maybe. Isn’t it hilarious how crazy that is? Definitely more than I could’ve seen coming after a random shift of work a week ago.”
“Hhhhhh, my name is Kahei, you dummy. Hmmm, by the way, you’re so confident asking me out like that though, you must not know who I am Hahaha! Asking me out like I would immediately say yes or something, come on, you must know I have rejected a million guys before and have never dated before!”, she said with confidence, as if she were a princess of the entire universe.
“Ohhh, so you’re implying I’m not the same? Maybe I’m known throughout all of Riverdale to be the king of curving women, a curve god or something.”, Viento jokingly said.
“Riverdale? Where’s that? Hey, tell me more about you. You’re Viento and you curve girls and maybe you’re a good fighter? You got muscles, so I am guessing. Tell me more about you, plus we need to talk about everything you know. You’re my thousand year soulmate and that’s way too cool you know. If you’re my soulmate then you’ve gotta be perfect like me haha. Let’s go, let’s go!”
Kahei said, as she took his hand so they could go look around and have a fun time.
They walked, talked, played guessing games and saw concerts.
It was beautiful.
They already understood that their souls were meant to be with each other.

“Imagine that, this small lady would be the one I proclaim to be my girlfriend. Aren’t you honored, Kahei?”
He jokingly remarked to match her witty self.
“I see. Girlfriend? Hmph. Soulmate doesn’t mean you are my boyfriend you know. Although I do think you are a handsome guy, what do you think? Aren’t I the prettiest girl in all of New York?”
Kahei stated and Viento immediately realized, her wit was truly unrivaled, she was perfect.
“Kahei, give me the opportunity to live the funnest and happiest lives two soulmates and absolute kings and queens could possibly live.”
Viento said this while taking both of her hands.
“I see, the king wants his queen so badly, right? Fine, I’ll be your girlfriend then hahaha.”
It was at that moment Viento looked directly into her eyes.
Kahei was looking directly in his eyes as well.
Viento pulled her in closer.
Eyes locked on each other and nobody else.
They both looked at each other’s lips and then up again at their eyes.
The Moon looked into The Sun
The Sun looked into The Moon
They finally closed the distance between their faces.
The delicacy that was their lips finally came together.
Everything they had been through.
They finally reached each other.
They could finally be together, forever.
The end.
...You may be wondering, who am I?
How do I know this?
Well,
I’m, Talu.
How do you think Viento acquired the $20,000?
Who left the little black books at both their houses?
Truly I am unrivaled and all powerful...
Ouuuuuuch!
Hey Vida! I was just joking!
...
As you can see, this angel, named Vida, just hit me with a tree branch.
That’s right, even I, Lord Talu, have found love.
Vida once told me,
“The same way the Wetiko are born to create hate and fear, the same way humans are born to love, but most end up spreading hate and fear, doesn’t that just mean, as a Wetiko, aren’t you supposed to learn how to love too?”
She meant that we are all capable of love. It can take effort for many to realize but basically, we are all meant to love.
One day, Viento and Kahei may seek answers and they may despise me for everything I have done. That’s fine, even then, I am fully dedicated to helping them and every single life I have ruined. They went through a lot, but now they are living happily ever after. I was the one who tore them apart, but realistically, something that is meant to be, will be, regardless of anything. I merely helped bring them closer sooner, since I was the one that broke them apart to begin with.
Happiness is now, freedom is now, and so, this was the story of how Viento won $20,000 and how the mysterious little black book guided him to his Sun, his love, his Kahei, and a better life.
The end.
