Lovestruck Chronicles Of A Girl 19 Years Single: Story of Sean
In this series, I take you through my life and the many guys I knew I was "completely in love with". Being the hopeless romantic I am, I "loved" a lot of boys, but I also never had the courage to act on any of them so I guess we could call these my confessions of love!

Let me introduce you to Sean: librarian’s son, big brown eyes, mouse nose, and a dark brown Justin Bieber haircut that looked way cooler on him than JB. Sean and I were in the same class and being the smart, smooth, popular kid he was, he talked to everyone which meant we had a lot of facetime.
One of the most memorable days I had with him took place on a normal school day. On this particular day, my class was headed to the library to pick out new reading books. Of course, I only wanted to go so I could watch him from the cover of a bookcase - yes I know that sounds very Joe Goldberg of me, but it was all pure intentions. I promise.
In the library, I soared from bookshelf to bookshelf, making sure to keep him in full view. I watched him laugh and smile brightly as he casually shuffled away from his mother. Being that my observation skills were directed at my boy wonder, I didn’t even notice when my teacher called for five minutes left of library time.
I still stood at the bookshelves, gawking at him, until he started heading in my direction, detaching himself from the crowd of people that had once engulfed him. I panicked and scrambled to grab a book off the shelf, reading the back cover intensely.
“Hey!” he said. “Need help finding a book? We’re leaving soon.”
Remember when I said we’d had a lot of facetime? Well, what I meant by that was we'd both stand in a group together and while he was a mingling king, I stood there and talked to my one friend. I didn't mean that I’d personally spoken to him more than 4 times.
“No! I don’t need help! I’ve got a book right here!” I screamed as I raised the book in the air like a protest sign. His face turned from a soft tan to bright red instantly.
I’d offended him and he was upset. Wow, I really shouldn’t have yelled at him, especially not in front of the whole class and his mom!
Before I could come up with a proper response or apology he said, “Oh - well I’m glad you found a book you really like. I can bring it to my mom if you want?”
I was baffled because he didn’t seem mad, he seemed embarrassed! His face wasn't turning red from anger, he was blushing! Me realizing that fact made the blood rush my cheeks too, my whole body started to heat up and I could feel the sweat droplets under my arms.
“Umm,” was the only thing I could claw out of my throat without sounding like a frog.
He just smiled and lightly took the book from me. I couldn’t focus afterward because the rosiness of his cheeks made him even more attractive. Somehow, we both made it to the library checkout, we both got in line to head back to class, and we both entered the classroom and started working again, giving me time to get my heart rate back to 91bpm.
Sean was my first crush. This kind, adorable, and exceptionally smart first grader was the foundation for all the crushes I’ve had after him. Even though the small act of “helping me” check out a book wasn’t much, it still gave me butterflies to think that someone was actually concerned about me. Maybe he only did it because he’s the librarian’s son and he’s supposed to help, but I like the version of the story where he’s a chivalrous six-year-old.
