Letter to My Daughter

Dear Emma,

We haven’t met yet, but as I write this, my heart overflows with love and hope for you. I imagine your laughter filling our home, your small hand clasping mine as we walk through life together. You may not know it yet, but you are already teaching me so much — about love, courage, and the kind of person I want to be for you. I want to share something with you about this moment in my life. I’m still figuring out who I am and what path I should follow. It’s not always easy. There are days when doubts creep in, and I question if I’m good enough to be your parent. But then I think of you, and I find strength I didn’t know I had.

Your arrival in our lives is already a beacon of hope. You may not know this, but your mother and I have endured some difficult moments. We’ve lost a part of our hearts — a little boy we never got to hold. That pain lingers, yet the thought of you has given us a reason to heal. You will never replace that loss, but you will bring light and love that will help us move forward.

Emma, I want to promise you a few things. I will strive to be strong-hearted and disciplined, to carve out a life that I’m proud of and that you can be proud of, too. There will be times when I stumble — when the pressures of life, work, or my own insecurities might get the better of me. But know this: I will always come back to what matters most — you and our family.
