Bisola opens up

Popular Nollywood actress and singer Bisola Aiyeola is sending her greetings to all school fees payers after getting off the phone with her daughter's school accounting department. Speaking about the ordeal in a social media post, Bisola hilariously said:

BISOLA: Mommies, daddies, guardians, I must greet you all specially in the voice of D'Banj.

This message, or this complaint, or this… I don't really know where it's stemming from. But I just want to say, God bless our mommies and daddies in the house. God bless any of you whose child is entering a terminating class and needs to pay for exams. God bless you if you need to pay any fees—outstanding fees. God bless you. God bless your pocket.

Is it by force to be educated? Can we not all be illiterate in peace? If we just understand the basics of addition and subtraction, can we not survive? I, for one, didn’t go to a higher institution. I didn’t do badly. But to give my offspring—I don’t know who sent me this message, but I have offspring. So, to give your offspring a life, a chance at a good future, is costly.

I’m just getting off the phone with the accounting department of my offspring’s institution of education, and my heart is heavy. My account is featherweight. I’m in a state of confusion. You know how they do subtitles in Yoruba films, and they write: "State of Confusion"? That’s where I am at because "money slow to enter, money quick to go. Money slow to enter, money quick to go!"

Because aside from paying all the fees and the exams, the child has small brilliance, and the child has many aspirations and dreams. Can I keep up with this? I didn’t even know! Please, if you have any option or any idea of how these children can be making money from now, share it. You need to start fending for yourself. The child needs to start fending for herself. Leyla, oko mi, you don’t have social media, but maybe your friends can show this to you—you need to start fending for yourself because I don’t know!

So, I greet all the mummies and daddies, all the senior uncles and aunties, all the firstborns, all the secondborns, all the lastborns carrying the home, carrying the siblings, carrying the younger ones. All the grandmothers and grandfathers looking after children—maybe life happened, and now you take care of your grandchildren.

All the people running orphanages, all the people sponsoring children who do not have privilege—God bless you! Because na only one pikin I born, and this one pikin I born, to look after her e no easy oh!

I just needed an avenue to talk.

Should you decide that you want to have three, four, five children, I give you kudos! To you who is just starting out on the journey of raising children, I duff my turban for you. The country is hard.

Oh, dear! I must greet you all specially because what?!
