This is one funny son of a bitch.
I am so mad that this man is hilarious, attractive, and taken. Yes, I am aware that as a un-comedic civilian I have zero chance with this man but let a girl dream dammit.
I love a comedy special that starts with some weird prerecorded skit, and yeah it's super quick but it's so fucking funny.
Like his other special 'At Large', Jack is wonderfully funny and interactive with his audience. He has his scripted jokes but you can tell when he breaks from his script for a minute just to roll off of something he saw an audience member do.
Especially with one particular man and woman, I will let you figure out which pairing that is because it's pretty much every comedians horror story. But it has a moderately 'happy' ending where Jack doesn't completely crash and burn.
I've never seen an English comedian before this guy. I usually steer toward American comedians, because you know it's where I live and grew up, but it's also what I've had access to. Thanks to the pandemic, I've invested in multiple international streaming platforms so I've been seeing a lot of new things, and learned that most of the BBC is painfully boring.
I digress, Jack is a rare comedian where he is genuinely funny.
There's a lot of comedians where you can tell they play up their jokes that are about something that happened to them at one point in their lives. As much as I love John Mulaney, you know some of those stories he exaggerated to make them funnier. No person who has two lawyers for parents had a childhood that funny.
Jack also talks about the pros and cons about an amicable breakup and it is seriously something I can 100% relate to.
"I wanted to get Adele'd! I wanted to be rolling in the deep, and instead I'm in the shallow end making jokes about diarrhea."
And come on, we've all had a non-dramatic breakup at least once in our lives and we wanted to get Adele'd too.
Pretty sure the girlfriend he was talking about was Gemma Chan. You know, the stunngingly gorgeous woman from Crazy Rich Asians and Eternals. And while I do find Jack Whitehall attractive, I have to admit that my mind is boggled that those two were a couple.
That's a story for another time, for another opinion article, for now though I will continue trying to convince you to watch this Netflix Special.
He once again, makes great transitions between jokes that make one just roll right into another with ease, it's a talent by itself admit it. He has very odd stories about his life that sound made up but I do believe they happened to him. You know those stories people tell you that are just weird enough to make it believable? Those are the stories he tells and they are all fucking gold.
Am I biased because I'm attracted to him? Yes. That's why I made my sister come over and watch a bunch of Comedy Specials with me as she thinks he's a pale British Gumby look-a-like.
She said he is actually funny and it's not just me wearing crush goggles.
So ha!
Give this weird little tall man who still calls his father 'Daddy' a chance.
Yeah, you read that right.
THis man who is maybe 30 years old, I'm too lazy to google it, still calls his father 'Daddy'.
Do with that information what you will, I stand by my opinion that this man is fucking hilarious.
