I'm an Accountant

...I wish...

If you're like me and the only serotonin you've been getting lately comes from wine and TikTok, you are more than familiar with the coded phrase "I'm an Accountant".

I'm also way too familiar with the guy that works at BevMo up the street but we won't get into that right now. Not a problem if you don't call it one.

For those of you who don't know the "Accountant" phrase, go download TikTok. You're gonna do it eventually anyway, so just do it and I promise you won't regret it. It is a great app with a lot of fun people who are creative and just as bored as you are.

I live in America, and this is a pretty taboo subject for a lot of people but it's getting more common and actually comfortable to talk about. Which shocks me but at the same time I'm really happy that it is. I don't think sex work in any form is something to be ashamed of and its wrong for people to be judged based on that fact alone.

I once had a class with a guy who was an EMT and he was the biggest douchebag I've ever met and he would get so mad if you didn't bow down to him just because he was an EMT. He asked me out on a date and when I said no, he started yelling at me for 'not doing my civic duty' to date him. I met a girl who worked at a strip club at a wedding a few years ago, she was a stripper for awhile but then she was basically just an exotic dancer. She was the sweetest woman I had ever met, we snuck behind the bar and mixed drinks and then we danced the night away and she gave me tips how to walk in four inch heels and how to properly kick a guy in the balls. When one guy tried to feel me up, she punched him in the face. I wanna be her when I grow up.

You can't judge someone based on their job.

A couple years ago, I went to a local community fundraiser for a woman who was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer and unfortunately her insurance wouldn't cover any operations of the chemo treatments. We put together a fundraiser and helped raised enough money from our friends, family, neighbors, and a lot of complete strangers to save her life. Her husband, kids, and grandkids get to have more time with her because we gave her the money we could spare, and because her insurance abandoned her when she needed it most.

I live in a country where if something like that happens, its typically a death sentence.

And now we're in a pandemic where we got one check for $1,200 seven months ago and now we might not even get a $600 check from the government. The renters grace period is about to expire and thousands of people are going to get kicked out of their homes next month. SO many people have no job, out of their savings, and now they might not even have a home.

So, yeah, I'm rooting for the people who create an OnlyFans account.

Guess what? If some guy wants to pay me for my underwear, I'd send it. Pictures of my feet? Alright. Because that's how I'm gonna to pay my bills and make sure there's food on the table.

Even if someone is not desperate to make money and they still work as an Accountant; that's their choice and I'm still rooting for them. As long as it's their choice and no one's forcing them to do it, all the power to them. You do you, boo.

It's no one else's place to decide what's best for you. If you decide to become an Accountant, that's your choice and there's nothing wrong with that. If you decide that's not for you, that's okay too.

If someone decides to flaunt their job as a stripper, that's great, all the power to them. If they decide to hide that face, that's great too.

We all make choices and as long as we make them to please ourselves and no one else; that's what matters.

I'm considering getting a job as an Accountant as well, it would be nice to not live paycheck to paycheck and have a little extra cash. I've been putting off fixing the heater in my car because that $950 that I can't afford. And it's been getting so cold here, it hit 28* degrees last night when I was driving home from work and I had two pairs of gloves on and a jacket, hoodie, and long sleeve shirt and was still shivering in my car.

So before ANYONE starts harrassing someone for making an OnlyFans account, I want you to remember that it's none of your damn business if you don't approve. Isn't there enough negativity in the world right now? It's so exhausting being angry at everything, why would you want to be that way all the time? Why can't you just move on if you see something you don't like? Not everything needs a harsh response. Let someone just be themselves, if they're an Accountant and their happy, don't take that away. Especially in a world where it's so hard to be ourselves because if you don't conform, you're shunned.

So, cheers to the Accountants! May your tips be plentiful and I hope tax season pays big ;).
