How Kunle Proposed to Me - Simi

Nigerian singer Simi is revealing for the first time, the story of how her now husband fellow singer Adekunle Gold proposed to her. Funny enough, Simi has never told this story publicly, but for the first time during an episode of Off The Top revealed the story of how exactly it all went down. Here's what Simi said.

Speaking about how Adekunle Gold proposed to her, Simi revealed saying:

SIMI: He proposed like ten days before my 30th birthday. He was going to propose on my birthday, but he wasn't gonna be in town so he did it earlier. So, he took me to Eko Hotel saying that his uncle was in town and they were doing dinner. And that day I was tired.

So we actually went to one of our friend's mum's birthday who also knew - which is why I did makeup because normal me, I would have just worn trouser and shirt and just show up. What's my own. So I had done some makeup and I had a cute dress on, and I had heels. So he now said let's go and see our uncle in Eko Signature. So I said okay, let's go and visit the family.

So we got in the car and when we got down from the car, I was wearing slippers and he said 'where are your heels?' I was like 'do they used to look at shoe in your family?' He said no, that it's dinner. So I said okay. And this is very funny because I am very hard to surprise. So I put my shoes back on and I was leaning on him because I was truly really tired.

So when I opened the door, I saw that there were some candles before the door opened fully. So in my mind I was like, 'oh it's such a fancy family. I like that'. I don't know why my brain just didn't compute. I was like oh!!!

So when I opened the door, it was so beautiful. And it was private. And even as they were surprising me, they were surprising my friend. So y'know, he knelt and it was so sweet. I didn't even look at the ring at first. And it was very sweet.
