How I Really Feel About AMVCA Snubbing Me - Kunle Remi
Kunle Remi opens up

When this year's nominations for the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) came out, people were very shocked to find Kunle Remi among those who were not nominated in any category. Kunle Remi starred in one of the most popular movies out of Nigeria, Anikulapo, last year where he acted as the character of Saro. After such a stellar performance, people thought it would be a guarantee for him to have a nomination this year. Sadly, that turned out not to be case.
Now, during a new interview with the ladies of Your View on TVC, Kunle Remi is opening up about how he really feels about the AMVCA nomination snub. Here is what Kunle Remi had to say about not bagging any nominations this year after his performance as Saro in Anikulapo.

During the interview, Kunle Remi was asked "How were the AMVCA nominations?" to which he responded:
KUNLE REMI: Nominations? Well, I fall into the category of the non-nominated actors. It's a new category [laughs].
"We are part of the people who felt like 'how dare they', but we would like to hear from the horse's mouth. How you felt, and how you took it?"
KUNLE REMI: How I felt? First things first, it is not my show. It is their show. I like the fact that the world spoke. People kept on being like why why why, but we we can't really have the answer to that. They have the answers to that. But for me, it doesn't reduce my value, it doesn't make me less of an actor, it doesn't make me less of a screen god. Anikulapo, which people were expecting, still broke the records it broke. Still the number 1 watched film globally in a language film, next to Squid Game. And I put in the work, I saw the effort, and I didn't do that because of the awards. I did that because it was a challenge and it is such a privilege to play that character, and we will never forget Saro. I think that is the greatest award. I'm going back for Anikulapo series again. I'm looking forward to it. It's a whole rollercoaster again.
It is good to see Kunle Remi taking the lack of nomination in stride. It happens, and he is not the only person this year that did not get any nominations. Actors like Deyemi Okanlawon and Nancy Isime too didn't get any nominations even though they have been in a number of productions. It happens. What do you think of Kunle Remi getting snubbed by the AMVCAs this year, and do you think he actually deserved to be nominated?
