How I Felt About Chef Dammy Trying to Break My World Record - Hilda Baci

Nigerian chef Hilda Baci set the nation on fire earlier this year when she broke the record for the longest cooking marathon in June. Very shortly after she broke her record, another chef, Chef Damilola Adeparusi popularly known as Chef Dammy attempted to break Hilda Baci's record to mixed reactions from Nigerians.

Now, during a new interview with Cool FM, record holder Hilda Baci opens up about how she felt about Chef Dammy's record-breaking attempt and about how life has been for her since breaking the record. Here's what Hilda Baci said.

During the interview, Hilda Baci was asked "Did you feel threatened by Chef Dammy, our famous cooking dancer?" to which she responded:

HILDA BACI: [Laughs] Not at all. So the thing is that at that time when she was having the attempt, we were still try to submit evidence so in truth, the major focus wasn't what was going on on social media or on Twitter. It was honestly just - few days down the line, we had gotten an email from Guinness requesting for extra evidence and it was a lot of evidence that was required for us to submit. So honestly, my main focus was just trying to make sure that all the evidence was put together properly, submitted, and we were now just pretty much waiting for the review.

"So you didn't even care if Dammy was existing, you were just doing your thing?"

HILDA BACI: Yeah, so honestly I wasn't really thinking too much about it, but yeah, definitely social media definitely brought it to my consciousness.

"So how has life been since after you broke that record?"

HILDA BACI: Incredible. It's been incredibly busy, but I will say good busy. Obviously, I had a restaurant before the Cook-A-Thon so obviously, business definitely got a lot better even because more people were trying to just taste the food and just even know where the place is. And I think one of my most favorite things about this is that the fame and success didn't just rest upon me, but it sort of spread across the team and the people that worked on this project down to the place that I used to make my hair got a bit of it as well. I've gotten to work with brands and people that I always had ideas on how to make certain things come to life for them, and it's just nice to be able to actualize some of those ideas and just get to work with some of those people. And obviously I'm still working and a lot of conversations are still being had. It just feels really good cuz I just feel like this happened at the right time.
