How I Feel When People Say I'm Not Reigning Again - Korede Bello

Korede Bello talks negative comments

By Jide OkonjoPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

Nigerian singer Korede Bello was the talk of the town between 2014 and 2016 especially with a slew of hits on his hand including "Godwin", "Romantic", "Do Like That", and MAVIN hits like "Dorobucci", "Adaobi", and more. He was the rave of that moment, and people were dying over Korede Bello. Then times moved on, and he kinda left the scene for a bit, and other artistes came along, and culture moved, and as these things go, it now became that he was no longer the man of the hour as he used to be when he first broke out. This things happen. Everybody at one point is the buzzing new artiste, and then later down the line, they are now veterans, it happens. But how does it feel whenever Korede Bello hears people say that?

During a new interview with Hip TV, Korede Bello opened up about how he feels when people say that he's no longer reigning or whenever he hears nasty comments about himself. Here's what Korede Bello said.

Speaking about how he feels whenever he hears such negative comments about himself, Korede Bello said:

KOREDE BELLO: It's interesting because you said how do you feel. So human beings are creatures of emotions. The reason why we're humans is because we can feel things. So I still will feel things that have a biological reaction, that is not my will. But I have also come to the place in my own journey as a human that whatever people say is not up to me, and it's their selective or objective experience. Now what I say and how I choose to feel or react about what they say is up to me, and I only focus on what I can control. So let me paint this analogy. The sun is out right now in Nigeria, Lagos, because we are here in the afternoon. So we're experiencing the sun. But I can guarantee you that there's a place in another part of the world that they are experiencing moonlight. So if people in Lagos are saying that "oh, we haven't seen the moon since the past 12 hours, the moon is no more shining, the moon is no more reigning", it's just the selective experience of the peope in Lagos. But some other people are experiencing the moon where it is. So it's not even a thing about argument. It's just "oh, they're right, they haven't seen you, that's good". But I've been seeing myself, and the people that have been seeing me have been seeing me. And people that are experiencing the moon are experiencing the moon. It's just a matter of time. But I'm a human being, sometimes I see and I'm like "hmm, that's where you are, okay that's good" but it doesn't get to me at all because I know that I didn't start this my life with the approval of people. I'm on my different timeline and I'm just going to keep going with that because that's why I am here.
