How I Feel about People Saying Money Changed Me for the Worse - Fireboy
"Don't say you've lost me, I'm still here..."

Nigerian singer Fireboy DML had a breakout year in 2021 when his song "Peru" came out and exploded all over the world. Before that, Fireboy's songs and image had skewed more towards being quiet, shy, a loverboy, etc. And then after the song came out, he released his next studio album titled Playboy that showed a more wild, adventorous, audacious personality and sound. Because of this change, a number of people have said that the money changed him (for the worse) and in a new interview with City 105.1FM, the singer is now speaking about this. Here's what Fireboy had to say.

Speaking about people feeling like money has changed him, or that he's no longer the same person he was when he first started out, Fireboy DML said:
FIREBOY DML: Me, I'm really happy with my life. And I think there is nothing that beats that in this life. It takes a while to get there, but once you get there. I think it all just comes from being grateful and thinking yo, I'm doing exactly what I want to do with my life. I'm making a living out of it. I can take care of myself. I can take care of my family. I can take care of anyone if I want to. Why would I be mad at a Twitter comment?
Right from the beginning, I've always just wanted to make music and hopefully get everybody to just love music and love Afrobeats and love African music. That's what matters to me. Like, my fans already even know. People already know the kind of person I am. And I think that's what this album is really supposed to do for me. That's why I made this album. At this point, una suppose don know me.
Guys, it might seem like I might have changed, but I'm just having fun. Don't say you've lost me, I'm still here. I'm still the Adedamola that you know. That's what the album is really saying. That's the mindset behind the album. You guys should know me by now. You guys should know that playboy blah blah blah, I'm just having fun. I had one of the biggest songs in the country, what did you want me to do? I'm supposed to act like it. I'm having fun. I went to the United States for the first time and I'm seeing different things. I made "Peru", I made "Playboy", I made "Ashawo", you can already tell where my mind is at. I'm excited. I've never been to the US before, what do you want me to do? What would you do in my shoes? Do you want me to remain that LTG loverboy guy at that stage in my life?
But, seeing all that, been there done that, I'm back now to say I'm still that guy. I was just having a great time. Because that's what you do when you find yourself in that life.
