Heterosexuality - everything you need to know
The capricious "lady" statistics claims that the population of the planet is mostly heterosexual. What is heterosexuality? We invite you to sort it out with us in this delicate matter.
This sexual orientation is based on emotional, sensual, platonic, romantic and sexual attraction to the opposite sex.
It is aimed at procreation, because often heterosexual couples engage in vaginal sex and have the goal of conceiving a child. Heterosexual orientation develops in accordance with factors such as:
- structure of the medulla;
- prenatal hormones;
- genetics;
- environment.
The word “heterosexuality” is translated from Greek as “other sex”. The term appeared thanks to the Hungarian journalist Karl Maria Kertbeni. As far back as 1868, an inquisitive scribbler defined the terms that define the sexual orientation of people:
- heterogeneity;
- monosexuality (meaning masturbation);
- homosexuality (male attraction to men);
- heterosexuality (attraction to the opposite sex).
The very concept of heterosexuality consists of factors that accompany it, namely:
- heterosexual behavior (that behavior of representatives of different sexes, which is typical for them - men want to have sex with women, and women - with men);
- heterosexual identity (a person self-identifies as a representative of the heterosexual orientation);
- heterosexual orientation.
In society, heterosexual communication does not cause any complaints, it is considered the norm and is indicated in the legislative bases of many countries. It is considered the most common type of sexual activity in society.
Major research companies conducted surveys around the world and concluded that from 89 to 98% of all earthly inhabitants are heterosexual and have never had any other sexual relations.
The Americans also conducted their own study, the results of which showed that over the period from 2002 to 2006, just over 97% of the entire US population was heterosexual.
The "naturals" for the most part talked about the fact that it is extremely important for them to have a sensual and emotional attraction to a partner of the opposite sex. Only with its presence does a sexual relationship arise.
Only a small number of the respondents admitted that all these amorous moments are not important for them - only the satisfaction of sexual needs with representatives of the opposite sex is important.
A few years later, in 2012, the study was again conducted. It revealed an interesting feature - it turned out that heterosexuals are less inclined to change their needs than all other sexual orientations.
Distinctive features of a heterosexual
In the modern world, more and more often people have a need to self-identify as a sexual object, to understand who they are in their sexual preferences.
Boys, who are heterosexual from an early age, tend to communicate with girls, pay attention to them, get acquainted, make friends. They are often embarrassed in conversation, especially as they grow up, sweat, turn pale or blush when the girl looks at her.
As he grows up, the attraction only intensifies, the young man begins to carefully examine the figures of the girls, evaluate them according to his own scale. Of course, girls' breasts and legs do not go unnoticed - they are the ones that guys pay attention to in the first place.
Girls also like to evaluate the physique of guys, they cannot calmly react to their behavior, voice, look - an excited state appears.
If a girl is around a guy she really likes, she has the following reactions:
- voice trembles;
- the brain becomes clouded;
- sweat palms;
- breathing and heart rate increase.
Are the listed signs characteristic of you (depending on gender)? So you are 100% heterosexual.
What are the sexual orientations
There are 3 main sexual orientations known in the world, which are the most widespread. You've probably heard about them, these are:
- bisexuality;
- homosexuality;
- heterosexuality.
A group of sexologists assures that there is another, fourth group, which they called atherosexuality. There is a lot of debate on this issue, but it may well be that atherosexuality really does take place.
It is important to distinguish between a person's sexual behavior and their sexual orientation. In the latter case, the orientation is the form of a certain gender perception of oneself at the mental and physiological levels.
Speaking about sexual behavior, it can be argued that this is a set of behavioral responses when looking for a partner for sex. Simply put - the psychological readiness of a person to have sex with a partner.
Homosexuality refers to attraction to a representative of the same sex. A man has sex with a man, a woman with a woman.
Bisexuality is to some extent a "golden mean". Men and women are sexually attracted to both the same sex and the opposite sex.
The last, fourth type of sexual orientation is asexuality.
atherosexuality
Here we are talking about the complete absence of sexual attraction to anyone. It is impossible to apply this term to those who deliberately abstain from sexual relations for some religious or other reason. More often atherosexuals are people with sexual dysfunction or sexual dysfunctions.
What is heterosexism?
heterosexism:
In recent years, the concept of heterosexism has been overgrown with a lot of controversy. What it is? In fact, heterosexism is called a system of views and beliefs that the fact of heteronormativity dominates. In other words, a person, both morally and sexually, admits exclusively heterosexual orientation and does not recognize any others.
The first to define such a concept was Gregory Herek. He pointed out the term "heterosexism" as an alternative to homophobia. The man was sure that such a designation does not carry an offensive meaning and is more appropriate in society.
There is another concept - heterocentrism and should not be confused with heterosexism. It means that any person a priori belongs to heterosexuals. Such conclusions are made simply by default, without real information about belonging to a particular orientation.
Some countries (about 60 today) absolutely do not accept bisexual and homosexual orientation. Moreover, in the Caribbean Islands, in the states of the Middle East, Africa, such ties are punished with the death penalty.
Followers of heterosexism are convinced that representatives of a different sexual orientation (bisexual, lesbian, homosexual) should be limited in their rights. They cannot fully participate in secular and church life, adopt children, and get married. They should be limited in economic, political and social rights.
