I wrote a letter to Johnny Depp and posted it on my Twitter and Facebook and Instagram. I put it out into the world and I hope it reaches him. I may even try the US Mail.

I did all this because I want a date with him. He has always seemed like a great guy over all the years I have watched him. But now with this trial I am learning more about the man whose career I have watched rise for decades. And the man I am seeing now is the one I would like to go on a date with.

Since he is so shy and private, we the public have not seen or learned a lot about who he truly is. Now he has been forced to let us peak behind the curtain of his fame and characters and see the abused boy and introverted man. The man whose true love is music. A man who has strong and loyal friendships. A man who admits he has addictions but still creates art and beauty.

Now you are thinking I am crazy for even trying this, but I have a track record of this working before – multiple times. Well, to a degree. I wrote famous people and asked them for a date rather than a photo or autograph. I described myself and gave them some details about who I am. Then I waited.

To my great surprise, I got responses. Sure, I got quite a few photos and autographs but I also got letters, phone calls, a backstage pass and even a trip offer. And yes, I admit I wrote about all this and put it in a book but that was not my intention at the beginning. I wrote my book because I was so surprised. But that was a long time ago and things have changed. Celebrities are more guarded now. And I am sure this trial has made Johnny more guarded as well.

But I get that! I am shy and totally introverted. I don’t talk much to try to hide a stutter that comes out when I am stressed, tired, excited or emotional. I have been called beautiful but I just don’t see it. I like to sit at home with my cats and read or watch movies. I love to be in nature but definitely prefer a cabin to a tent. The beach is my happy place.

I know Johnny plays guitar. I played banjo as a child. Maybe I will take it up again and we can play together.

Now you are thinking to yourself that this sounds like a nice dream but what could you possibly have in common. Quite a bit actually. I studied theatre in college with the intention of going into film. I lived in LA and worked in television. In fact, I worked for Stephen J. Cannell Productions who produced “21 Jumpstreet” but after Johnny had left the show. I’ve worked on sets and also acted some. So I have an understanding of his professional and private life.

I am also close to his age. This is very important. I’ve done all the silly youthful things. I know who I am and what is important in life. I’ve dealt with the loss of a parent. I know the importance of friends and family. I am also divorced so I know how tough a decision it is to finally say that a marriage isn’t working no matter how hard you try or want it.

I don’t drink or use drugs. I even gave up soda. I have never liked coffee. I was a Girl Scout. I don’t even wear makeup. I would be a stabilizing force for Johnny. The world he lives in is crazy. I know, I’ve been in it. But we all need an anchor in the storm.

All I want is one date. A meal or just coffee (maybe juice for me). A day together at the zoo or aquarium would be fantastic since that would provide more time in a relaxed situation. Then you also have animals to talk about to fill those awkward silences. But I understand a need to be quiet sometimes.

I am not a whack job or crazy fan. And for all I know I may find him boring or hate the way he smells or something. He, of course, will find absolutely nothing wrong with me and fall madly in love instantly. But we will never know unless we have at least one date.

So if anyone reading this wants to hold up signs for Johnny to see or if you know his agent or friends, I’d love your help. Spread the word. There is a lot going on in the world and one lone woman asking a single celebrity for a date may get lost in the noise. But show me (and Johnny) that you still believe in love. That the fairy tale is still possible no matter the circumstances or how old you are. Let us try for our happily ever after.

Please like and share this far and wide. If you want me to look pretty on my date, please leave a tip so I can buy a new dress, get my hair done and those kind of things.
