GUYS DON’T HAVE TO GO THROUGH THAT
I know why you’re afraid of us.
Have you ever noticed that many men, especially those in any sort of power, are intimidated by women? We’re too weak, too emotional, too feminine! How many women have ever really wondered why? I think I may have the answer.
Let’s begin with the adolescent female, those on the verge or puberty.
The little girl is growing and beginning to show signs of womanhood. What had once been a flat child’s chest, now shows the budding of the female body. With some young girls, she might feel discomfort, yet she battles her way through that discomfort and allows herself to grow.
Wow! Guys don’t have to go through that. They have no idea what that feels like.
And if this isn’t bad enough, the little girl faces another issue. She starts experiencing abdominal pain, which often feels like the inside of her belly has been hit with something solid and can easily take her breath way and not in a good way. What the heck is going on? Ah, puberty!! Her menstrual cycle is beginning.
Wow! Guys don’t have to go through that. They have no idea what that feels like.
Now the cycle takes on a newer aspect. The young girl begins to bleed. Holy Moly!! She hasn’t been in an accident. She’s had no surgery and yet, she’s bleeding. She’s still in the most excruciating pain and now, there’s blood with it. And yet, she faces it head on, takes ibuprofen to ease the pain and uses protection to keep the blood from staining her clothes.
Wow! Guys don’t have to go through that. They have no idea what that feels like.
The young girl is growing up and suddenly, guys notice. Consensual or not, sex happens and with that first experience, consensual or not, there is pain. Holy moly! What the heck just ripped through her? She feels a horrific explosion just happened inside her. She cries out until the pain eases, which, eventually, it does. Yes, her hymen was just obliterated. And yes, that is painful. All too often, men are not aware of what they’ve just put the young woman through, and, in their enjoyment, they block out all cries, and the sobs they might hear, if they’re paying attention. Notice I said IF. Yet, despite it all, she pushes on.

It might take only one time, then again, it might take several attempts, but unless there is a genuine problem, the woman becomes pregnant. She’s ecstatic. She wants to share her joy with everyone, but wait, sometimes the man who gave her that child, isn’t happy in the slightest. While her initial joy has not been clouded, she realizes she’s alone. Yet, she continues on.

Her pregnancy causes her body to change. Once young, thin, and regularly active, she’s now facing weight gain, a protruding belly, and her activity has changed to accept the change in her body. Her skin starts to stretch. Sometimes, the stretching is a bit uncomfortable, often very itchy. Yet, because of her persistence, she continues on.

During her pregnancy, as the life inside her begins to grow, the woman will start feeling what begins as fluttering sensations. They start off slowly, and during the nine-month gestation, come more often, and very often will take her breath away. Most times, she’ll look in the mirror and see the footprint of the little alien trying to stick its way through her skin. She’ll smile, give it a gentle rub then, wham! In the blink of an eye, the foot retracts as if sucked back in by some gigantic magnetic force. Still smiling, she continues on.

The wait is almost over. It won’t matter if she’s sitting, standing, walking, at home, in the street, at work, praying at church, or having lunch with friends. Suddenly and without warning, her amniotic sac rips open and dispenses a bucketful of fluid – and there’s nothing she can do about the where or when it happens. Yet, she realizes what the water gushing from her body means. She’s now facing her labor pains. She smiles and carries on.
Wow! Guys don’t have to go through that. They have no idea what that feels like.
Ouch! OMG!! There’s the first pain, and what a pain it is! This little (?) body the size of a six-pound turkey is pushing its way out. Wait!!! That big thing is coming out of that little opening where it all started??? Holy mother..!!! How on earth is that going to fit? OUCH! Here is another pain. Some women have short labor, sometimes as short as two hours. Others? Oh, those poor women. Their labor can last more than nineteen hours. Yes, they can receive pain meds to dull the pain, but all too often those meds will slow down the birth and while the pain has lessened, the labor is much longer.
Wow! Guys don’t have to go through that! They have no idea what that feels like.
Totally exhausted from the breathing, pushing, and straining of childbirth, it’s over! Ah, she can relax and while she’s lying in a pool of her own sweat, the infant is then gently placed on her chest. Tiredly, she wraps her arms around the little life she’s just brought into the world and thinking back to how it all started, she looks at the tiny life that had been inside her and smiles at the wonder, the beauty, and the love she feels for the extension of her own life. Yes, she smiles and would willingly do it all over again, given the chance.
Wow! Guys have no idea what that feels like.
And yet, too many men think women are the weaker sex. Yeah, right!!!
Go through what she’s experienced and tell me that again, in my good ear!

That is why the men should be in the labor and delivery room so the mother can hold his hands and squeeze the hell out of them. The pain not the same but comes close. What a great story to share in a girls' health course. Good work.
