Giving thanks on behalf of my Friend
To a hard working, dedicated, professional and caring hospital staff.

I write on behalf of my Vocal friend, let us name her Leticia (not her real name. Letty has been my mentor here in my writing journey and is actually the one who introduced me to the platform. She says that I have the writing skills of someone far more advanced in years than my actual age. I bet you all think that I am fully grown, but I am not actually quite there yet.
Letty is on a break from Vocal until she can breathe freely again. We ask for your prayers as she sends hers to you.
Back in the US, before I met her, her troubles began. A great deal of money and a great many tests only ended in pills, uncertainty and a constant reminder to pay the bills after insurance did their part. For their efforts, she is extremely grateful.
She says that to contrast the difference between the way the two countries have handled the problem.
Here in the UK, my friend has undergone another whole battery of tests in order to ascertain the reason for pains related to the heart. The NHS hospitals have left no stones unturned to find the exact extent of the problem. They have done multiple ECGs, blood tests, angiograms, coronary angiography, you name it, they have done it. It has been months and a lot of hospital visits.
The emphasis here has been on a more humane nature, letters, calls, check-ins from the pharmacy on medication use and making sure that she keeps all of her appointments. Letty will eventually have to face the expected coverage for it all, but she certainly appreciates them putting her first and financial considerations after.
Finally, the cardiologist is fully satisfied that they have done all of the relevant tests and is ready to diagnose the problem. My friend will need to do coronary bypass surgery. Letty's hopes are dashed as she does not like to be fussed about. She had fully hoped it would be a pat on the back and she would be sent home with reassurance or something much less agonizing.
It is a scramble to get her all fixed up as the doctor fears that a heart attack could occur at any given time. Needless to say she is now taking an alarming number of evil looking pills.
Now Letty pens a letter of extreme gratitude to the staff of West Suffolk Hospital, Cambridge Hospital, Forest Surgery, and the initial efforts by the LAFB staff for their kind, caring service and selflessness which they have displayed throughout this healing journey. A special mention of the most recent assistance of the Cardiac Day Center.
