Facts about dream:
Dreams are a fascinating experience that have been studied extensively. While we may have a basic understanding of why and how we dream, there are still many discoveries to be made. Here are 10 interesting facts about dreams that can help move us a step closer to understanding our nocturnal visions.
1. Dreams are generally experienced while we are in the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) stage of sleep. This is the stage in which our brains are highly active and we are most likely to experience vivid hallucinations.
2. Dreaming is a normal process that most people experience several times during the night. It is estimated that the average person dreams five to six times in a single night.
3. Some people remember more of their dreams than others. The more vivid a dream is and the more emotionally charged it is, the easier it is to recall it.
4. Dreams can be both positive and negative in nature. While many dreams are pleasant and/or humorous, other dreams can be quite disturbing and can often involve feelings of fear or anxiety.
5. While dreams may differ from person to person, certain themes are common among most individuals. Dreams about flying, falling, public speaking, and being chased are some of the most commonly reported experiences.
6. Dreams can be indicative of our current mental, emotional, and physical states. Some people experience prophetic dreams that provide insight into their lives or the lives of others.
7. The colors, events, and characters found in our dreams are often drawn from our subconscious minds. They can be symbolic of that which we currently need and/or desire, but which we may also be avoiding.
8. Scientists have mapped the neurophysiological process of dreams and have found that certain areas of the brain are involved in the experience.
9. Certain substances, such as medications and recreational drugs, can cause changes in our dream patterns.
10. Scientists have not yet been able to entirely unravel the mysteries behind dreams. It is possible that dreams are more than just a mental tool for sorting through our experiences - they may serve some greater purpose that we have yet to fully understand.
11.We dream at night because our brain releases certain chemicals that help us fall asleep. These chemicals then increase while we sleep and decrease when we wake up. When we sleep, our body rests from the day’s activities, allowing the brain to rejuvenate. This allows the brain to work properly so it can make decisions and learn patterns.
12.Dreaming occurs when your mind is not distracted by your environment. Your brain focuses on the past experiences that have occurred and uses these memories to create a story line of dreams. It is thought that this may contribute to how people remember their dreams.
13.Dreams can last anywhere between 20 minutes and 4 hours. Most experts believe that the average person has seven to eight dreams per night but only remembers three of them. Many people don't recall any of their dreams. Some individuals who suffer from nightmares have vivid dreams that they often remember after waking up. Dreaming is stimulated by many factors including emotions, stress, drugs, alcohol, caffeine, exercise, illness, etc.
14.If we dream at night, our body becomes tired. However, if we sleep in daytime, then our energy level will be higher than that of nighttime because our brain will use less oxygen.
15.It's been said that we dream from our subconscious mind while sleeping. But there isn't any scientific evidence that supports this theory. There have been thousands of studies done on dreams and sleep but none has proven anything. We still don't know if we dream or not.
