Every Choice

Consequential

Where the rippling waters go, cast a stone, and truth you will know

We go through life, every single day, making more choices than we truly realize, and with every choice we make, there are effects that ripple out across reality, due to that choice. When we act impulsively, and do not take the time to truly think our choices through, we suffer consequences from such choices, that can have ramifications of a negative proportion.

I have made choices in my past, that I had to face the consequences of, and I have looked at these occurrences as learning lessons, where many may look at such things as punishment, by divinity, instead of taking accountability for ones own actions, initiated by a choice, that was made without fully thinking about the consequences therein.

We are given the chance with every new day, to make better choices, and take the time to fully think about all the possibilities that our choices can entail. Staying mindful of your mental self talk is also paramount in making the best choices we can, in any situation, because when we take the time to truly think about what it is we are doing, we are placed in the present, not worrying about the past, or dreading implications of the future.

The best way I have found to learn from mistakes, is to learn from not only the mistakes which we may make, but also from the mistakes that others make as well. When we allow our observation skills, to assist us, in bettering ourselves, the suffering we have to go through is lessened dramatically. I will give an example. When I was young, my brother had a strong fascination with fire, and considering he was one to act on impulse more often than not, this what not exactly a good thing.

I remember when we were in our first house, as a child, and my parents were asleep, well my brother found a lighter, and his curiosity peaked, causing him to act without a clear conscious thought about what the consequences would be, the actions he carried out, were lighting the recliner on fire, which quickly became a very significant emergency.

I began processing the possible implications of his choice to light that fire, before he even did so, and I was prepared to the best of my ability, at such a young age, to mend the catastrophic situation which my brother created, even though I was the younger brother, I many times had to make the choices that carried a greater weight of responsibility. Once the recliner was engulfed in flames, my brothers fascination turned into fear, and he froze up, hiding behind the couch, scared of not only the impending danger, that was quickly growing right before our eyes, and also the reaction of my parents, considering what he had just done.

I didn't really have much time to think at this point, so I acted based on my thoughts prior to this event taking place, I ran back to my parents room, and began shaking them with all the force I could muster, considering I was very young, that wasn't much. They finally awoke, and my oldest brother did also, and they came out into the living room, grabbed the biggest containers for water that they could find, and began throwing it on the fire. The house was saved, and the resulting damage from this incident was a scorch mark on the floor where the recliner had been consumed by flames.

I had to make a choice in this situation to negate the negative effects of the choice that my brother made, out of pure curiosity, and the resulting effects of this were a balanced ending to a situation that could have taken the lives of everyone in the house. When we do not think of that which we are doing, even what seems like the most simple, and obvious choice, can have far reaching effects for not just the person making the choice, but for so many others also, who may be effected either by proxy, or simply inadvertently.

Having the foresight to see what can come from our choices and actions, is a very good skill to develop, for only when we can see the far reaching effects of our choices, can we take the necessary actions to ensure that these choices, are of the utmost benefit for all involved.

Never make decisions based on an emotional response if you can avoid it, for in so doing, you are not acting with foresight, but haste, and the resulting implications could be quite disastrous. Never let others pressure you into making decisions that are not wholesome and healthy, for yourself, or for another, because acting in such a way, takes the power from your hands, and places it in someone else's, who may not have the best of intentions when it comes to utilizing the energy of others, to enact their own schemes.

We can choose to live our lives as though they are miracles, or we can choose to live our lives in misery. I personally prefer miracles, and would certainly think the vast majority of our civilization would prefer the same.

Never underestimate the power of a choice, even if it seems as though that choice is not one that carries significance.
