Eclipse Season and Mercury Retrograde for Gemini

Understanding my birth chart was the first time I ever felt truly understood. I only sought it out when I had thought I had met my twin flame and his girlfriend at the time shouted at him with disdain “She MUST be a Gemini!” She wasn’t wrong. I was and am a Gemini. To be completely transparent, for those who are interested, I was born on a full moon with my Sun in Gemini, my Moon in Sagittarius and my Ascendent in Scorpio. With this combination, in addition to my Taurus in Mercury, I have been described as a pragmatic, mysterious, passionate investigator. When I am invested in something, I will get the job done. So, hopefully I don’t fail you with this astrology forecast. I also turn thirty this year, under the super full moon lunar eclipse, so I am intrigued on how this season will interfere and add to my life as well.

Gemini is the sign of the twins. In Tarot they are represented by the Lovers, 2 halves coming together to create a whole. I believe Gemini is deeply misunderstood. People are prone to fixate on the “two-faced” aspect of Gemini as if they have ill intentions are misleading or unfaithful, but I feel a better word to describe them is “dualistic”.

Gemini is a mutable sign that flows with ideas and perspectives. If I were to choose three words to describe a Gemini they would be: curious, intelligent and open-minded. Gemini's are here to teach us and open us up to new ideas and show us change can be effortless and beautiful.

Super Full Moon Lunar Eclipse: Embrace your Gemini!

On May 26th, we will be experiencing a Super Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in the sign of Sagittarius. Lunar Eclipses elicit intense energy that illuminate areas of our life we need to change. If we have lots of changes we need to make, this may feel uncomfortable as the energy propels us forward, showing us where we need to evolve.

The sign of Sagittarius is Gemini’s complimentary opposite, so naturally they have different traits that attract each other. Sagittarians are also a mutable sign, and like Gemini, are intelligent and open-minded. However, Sagittarians can be more passionate about their ideas, usually holding a particular big picture vision or belief, unlike Geminis who are more fluid and present with their ideas.

During this Lunar Eclipse the collective is being asked to release any unhealthy Sagittarian traits they have. This means we need to look at our outdated ideas, beliefs and behaviours that we have outgrown and let them go!

Luckily, for Gemini Sun’s this won’t be too difficult to do. Naturally, Gemini’s enjoy multiple perspectives and truths and deeply understand the power of change. Mercury Retrograde: Pause and Reflect!

From May 29th to June 22nd we will be experiencing a Mercury retrograde in the sign of Gemini. Each planet goes retrograde at some point, meaning it appears it is moving backward in orbit. It is believed that retrogrades cause friction in the area of life that that planet symbolizes. Mercury is the planet of communication and rules the zodiac Gemini.

Since Mercury is going retrograde in the sign of Gemini, Gemini Sun people in particular will be more affected. Mercury represents how we express ourselves, how we communicate to others and how we process, understand and articulate ideas.

For Gemini’s this month it should be expected that there will be tension or obstacles in their way where it relates to communication in their life. I would take it one step further and say that since mercury retrograde is transiting their Gemini Sun this month, that this communication may relate to their identity. On June 10th there will be a New Moon Solar Eclipse in the sign of Gemini. Solar Eclipses occur when the moon is exactly between the Sun and the Earth. New Moons represent setting intentions and goals and eclipses amplify this energy. Solar Eclipses are the beginning of a metamorphosis, a powerful transformation that initiates endings of patterns and relationships and creates room for new beginnings.
