DREAM TO REALITY
My best friend name is Millianee and she is one of the strongest people I know. Millianee is a single mother of 2 a 13-year-old son and a 10-year-old daughter. Millianne is living in the rough part of town in the projects, working, and putting herself through school for a better life for her kids. Millianee is working a full-time job and a part-time job to try to keep a roof over their heads, food on the table, and give her kids what they need. I for one commend her and don’t know how she does it, but to see her keep a smile on her face and never complain about it amazes me so much. Millianee will not even allow the kids to go outside without her with all the drugs, killings, and fighting that she sees everyday because she does not want to expose the kids to it and to protect them from all the negativity. Millianee is a great mother and she deserves to be happy and not have to struggle in life.
Millianee kids father left her with nothing and she had to do what she needed to do as a mother. The kids would always ask for him all the time and when they call, he do not answer. He even had the audacity to tell her that he does not want anything to do with them and that he was happy with his life without them. She tried to put him on child support, but he would not hold a job long enough to get anything. He was in the rear of about 10 thousand dollars and she really could use it right now. Milliane could not understand what the problem with him was because she did everything that she was supposed to for them as a family and was not appreciated for it. She felt as though everything she did was for nothing and he was only using her to better his self.
Millianee would always carry this custom-made pretty little black book that she would right certain things in. I always wondered what was so important about it and why she would always keep it with her no matter where she went. I asked her about it and she explained to me that she would write different numbers in it and always put a little money in it to play the lottery and every time she was going to play something always came up and she had to use the money. She would sometimes talk herself out of playing because she thought she would never win and would only buy a couple of scratch offs that did not pay much. We were shopping one day and she had a thought of some numbers and wrote it in the little black book and I made sure to take her to buy her scratch offs and to play the pick 3, pick 4, lottery, and the power ball.
Millianne had gotten the tickets winning a little on the scratch off and was regretting buying the rest of the tickets and of course I had to convince her that she just may get lucky and win something even if it is $100. I had to let her know that it was more than she had and she could do something for herself this time. She still was convinced that it would be like any other time because only people with money would win. Millianne bought the tickets Friday and the power ball was going to be drawn the next day and to her surprise she won. Millianne never paid attention to how much she won she was just so happy that she did. I looked at her ticket and I almost passed out and gave her a heart attack when I told her how much she had won. She started screaming, jumping up and down, and crying tears of joy because it was a lot of money to her. The kids came running because they thought something was wrong. She had to assure them that she was ok.
I told her to sign the ticket and put it up until Monday and I would go with her to cash in. She was so excited to win that she could not sleep the night before and neither could I. We had gotten up that morning and went to cash the ticket in and we thought she had only won $2000 but she had won more. Millianne did not realize that she had picked the multiplier. It was 10 times more. She had won $20,000 and almost passed out in the lottery place. She had gotten her check and we went straight to the bank to deposit it. She was so nervous the whole time hoping that no one seen her coming out of the place and followed us. She deposited the check and had to wait for it to clear. She had all these though running through her head about her winning the money. I had to reassure her that she deserved it.
Millianne was determined to make a better life for her kids and get them out of the projects and that is exactly what she did. She was able to put a down payment on a house and buy for her kids like she always wanted to do. Her kids father found out about what happened and came to apologize to her, to admit that he made a big mistake and he wanted his family back. She did accept his apology and let him know that they would never be a family again because she had someone else that respected her and her kids and did not use her for what he can get. The custom-made pretty little black book and the $20,000 changed her and her kid’s life forever. Millianne was now able to keep some money at all times in her custom-made little black book.
