Drama In Court Following Eezee Tee Case Adjournment (Photo)
Eezee Tee took to his heels

On Thursday, a notable incident occurred at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, involving Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, widely known as EeZee Tee, a prominent gospel music executive and former manager of renowned gospel singer Mercy Chinwo. The court proceedings, which have garnered significant public attention, were unexpectedly adjourned, leading to a dramatic sequence of events outside the courtroom.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has brought charges against EeZee Tee, accusing him of money laundering amounting to $340,000 and the dishonest conversion of funds derived from Mercy Chinwo's digital platforms and events. These allegations have intensified public interest, given the high-profile nature of the individuals involved.

During the court session, presided over by Justice Alexander Owoeye, both the prosecution, led by Bilikisu Buhari, and the defense counsel, Chikaosolu Ojukwu, expressed their readiness to proceed with the arraignment. However, Justice Owoeye informed the court that due to ongoing administrative processes, the arraignment could not proceed as scheduled. Consequently, the case was adjourned to May 14, 2025, allowing time for the completion of the necessary procedures.
According to The Cable Lifestyle, following the adjournment, as EeZee Tee exited the courtroom, members of the press were poised to capture his departure. In an unexpected turn, EeZee Tee took to his heels and ran out of the court hastily with the media personnel in hot pursuit, trying to capture his dramatic exit. This sudden exit added a layer of drama to the day's events, highlighting the heightened emotions surrounding the case.

The legal dispute between Mercy Chinwo and EeZee Tee extends beyond the current charges. Chinwo has accused EeZee Tee of surreptitiously altering the original contract she signed in 2017 without her consent, a claim that has further strained their professional relationship. EeZee Tee has vehemently denied these allegations, referring to them as "lies from the pit of hell."
In a related development, Mercy Chinwo has initiated a defamation lawsuit against social media critic Martins Otse, known online as VeryDarkMan (VDM). She is seeking N1.1 billion in damages, alleging that VDM made defamatory statements about her on social media platforms. The lawsuit underscores the broader implications of the ongoing disputes and the challenges public figures face in this digital age.
As the legal proceedings continue, the public remains keenly interested in the outcomes, given the prominence of the individuals involved and the serious nature of the allegations. The adjournment to May 14 allows all parties to prepare adequately for the forthcoming legal processes, with the hope that justice will be served in accordance with the law.
