Dr. Sid on Mo'Hits Breakup, Wrongful Accusations, and More

Dr. Sid is speaking out

By Jide OkonjoPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 3 min read

Nigerian artiste and one of Mo'Hits biggest stars, Dr. Sid, is opening up about how the group's disbandment led to many negative events in his life from getting death threats to losing jobs. The singer had a lot to say about what we didn't see during a new interview with NMF, and wow, it's a lot. Here is what Dr. Sid had to say.

During the interview, Dr. Sid was asked "Some of your most recent interviews about Mo Hits breaking up, you said there was a lot you couldn't say at the time. I'm wondering if there is anything you can say now?" Dr. Sid responded:

DR. SID: I still wouldn't say anything. I think there was a lot that happened in Mo'Hits and I think it molded us into all the individuals that we are now. People have said what the reasons are. The only thing I can say is that it's not my fault, because there were interviews that said it was my fault. I think anyone that knows me knows I'm a very big team player. Eldee knows that. I've always been part of a team. From The Trybe to Mo'Hits to MAVIN. For me, it's about the team, it's about everyone succeeding and growing together. I don't believe in individualism. Maybe I should. Maybe I should've been a bit more selfish when it came career-wise. But I've never really seen myself as standing alone. I think it's lonely, and it can be more. You can be successful, and you can also bring people up. So for me, it was all about is D'Banj doing well? Is Wande doing well? Is D'Prince doing well? How do we move as a team?

So for the suggestion to come about that I was the cause of the breakup, I think that was unfair. It hurt me a lot. Not just emotionally, but imagine someone pointing a finger and saying "that's Judas Iscariot", the whole world is going to be angry. So I got death threats. People stopped booking me for shows. And it was tough. It was really really tough. And it affected me more ways than people can imagine. And I would never be able to express it. But having gone through that, and that pain, it was what led to my next hit which was "Surulere". So, I don't think there's any reason to shed light on what happened. If we ever do a documentary about it, maybe we would talk about it. Maybe everybody would speak from their perspective. But for me, it was sad and it was painful when it happened. But, it happened.
