Connecting with Your Inner Wisdom: A Meditation to Shape Your Tomorrow
"Discover the transformative impact of mindful awareness and make empowering choices for today and tomorrow."

Preparing for the Meditation
Tomorrow. Find somewhere comfortable where your body can feel supported. Whether it be sitting in a chair, lying on a bed, or just lying on the floor somewhere, you won't be disturbed. It's important that you don't drive, cook, or use any machinery while listening to this tomorrow recording. Turn off or disconnect phones and tell your family members or others that you live with that you're going to take time to relax and ask them not to disturb you. Once you're in your quiet place and have this time set aside, get yourself comfortable making sure your arms and legs are uncrossed and supported. Sitting either erect in your chair, with your head supported on your shoulders, or making sure your head is comfortably supported by the chair, bed or floor. You might choose to close your eyes, or simply look slightly downwards and allow your eyes to become unfocused.
Noticing Your Breathing
And now just notice your breathing. Take several normal slow breaths and notice what that feels like. And as thoughts and sounds into your awareness, you can just notice them and let them pass without responding to them. Just let them come and let them go. That's okay. You will notice that your mind wanders. Thoughts will come and go, and that's okay. That's just what the human mind does. We can notice those thoughts, images, sounds or sensations and just let them pass on by as your mind lets them come. So your mind can let them pass. Perhaps a little light clouds drifting past or dissipating as they go by. The thoughts can come and the thoughts can go. Each time thoughts, images, sounds or sensations come to mind, you can just notice them and then just gently bring your attention back to your breathing and to this recording.
Visualizing Tomorrow
Imagine that we could know our tomorrow or the rest of today. Imagine that we could look into our futures and see how our choices today affect how we are tomorrow. There's a book called The Book of Tomorrow by Cecelia Ahern. It tells how a young girl found a book in a traveling library. An old untitled book that was padlocked. She managed to open it and found the book was full of blank pages, a diary. But each day when she opened the diary, she found that it had already been written in for the next day. She could read about what she did, who with, and what happened. And each day the entry was erased and replaced by tomorrow's entry. With that knowledge, she realized that she could make changes to the outcome. She realized she had choices.
The Power of Choices
Imagine. Imagine being able to know each day what happened that day and the knowledge of what happens tomorrow. What would we do with that knowledge if we knew that today was just the same as yesterday? Would we change anything? Would we do anything differently? With that knowledge, we could make positive changes not only to our daily life, but also to our long term future, as we could gradually abandon unhelpful habits the habits of unhelpful thinking, unhelpful ways of responding, unhelpful avoiding people or situations, unhelpful behaviors.
Listening to Your Wise Mind
For a moment or two right now, just quieten your mind and listen to that wise inner part of you. That wise mind that knows all there is to know about you, that knows your past, your present, and perhaps a little of how your future might be. And certainly the possibilities there are for your future. Because wise mind knows all your inner resources and strengths, as well as your unhelpful ways of being and doing. Wise mind knows you. Listen now. Simply be here with wise mind. Up. What is wise mind trying to tell you?
Messages from Wise Mind
If Wise Mind was trying to give you a message now, what would it be? What would that wise in a part of you suggest that you do or think differently? About yesterday. About today. About tomorrow. What would that wise in a part of you say about the way you think, your style of thinking about how you respond to distressing or unhelpful thoughts about how you could think about things differently.
Addressing Worries with Wise Mind
Right now, just bring a current worry or concern to mind. And then consider what wise mind that wise in a part of you might say about what you can do. What is it about that concern or worry that is really bothering you? What meaning are you giving that situation? What does that situation or concern mean to you or even say about you? What's the real issue here? What does wise mind say? Just listen and be. And quieten your mind.
Shifting Perspectives
Is there another way of seeing that situation? Another way of looking at it? What would you say to a friend in a similar situation? What would an independent observer say? What would they advise? If this situation was part of a drama or a documentary on TV? What would you or other people make of that situation?
Consequences of Actions
What are the likely consequences of doing what you normally do? Maybe in the short or the long term? If you do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got. If you want your life to change. Will you achieve that goal by doing what you normally do, or is there something that you can do differently? It might be just a little thing, a small step, a small change, and just test things out and see how that affects things. Or it might be something really drastic and dramatic that you can change.
Trusting Your Wise Mind
Wise mind. That wise inner part of you knows wise mind is within you, a part of you, and always available to you. What would a wise mind say about this situation, or concern or worry? Imagine knowing your tomorrow. What would you change about today? What can you do differently today that will improve the likely outcome? What can you do today that will change your tomorrow? Is there something you can do less of or stop doing? Or perhaps is there something you can start doing, or do more of those things that will help?
Becoming More Mindful of Your Choices
And in the coming days and weeks, you will notice that you will start to consider each day the consequences of each action you make. Considering wondering how each action will affect your today and your tomorrow. You will start to become much more aware of choices that you have about what you do, how you do it, and how you think about things. You will notice more and more each day that you are becoming more mindful of your wise mind, and starting to make more and more wise choices. Choices that will affect you but also affect others around you and how those others take those effects onto other people that they come into contact with.
Opening to Wise Mind
You will notice a growing awareness of the power that you have to affect your own life and those of others, just by how you think and the way you react and the choices that you make. You will find that you are more open, more receptive, more able to listen and hear what wise mind is saying. That part of you that knows your inner truth. There's a saying that says minds are like parachutes. They only work when they're open. You will be more open and more receptive.
Being Receptive to Wise Mind
Whereas previously you may have gone through life busily doing busily doing things that just don't take any thought because you've just always done them unthinkingly, habitually, automatically. You will find the truth in the description that we are not human doings, but human beings. You will start to just be noticing wise mind and being receptive to what wise mind is saying. You will become more and more aware of wise mind, and be more receptive to what wise mind is telling you about.
Consulting with Wise Mind
Your thoughts and about what the best thing to do is. You will listen and recognize that wise mind. Take a minute or two each morning and each evening to quiet in your mind and listen. Consulting with wise mind. You will learn to trust the judgment and advice of wise mind more and more, as wise mind serves you well. You will see possibilities in all situations. Options for how to respond and you will choose wisely.
Returning to the Present Moment
Feeling calm and composed. Whenever you are ready, you can bring your attention back to the room, noticing the chair or bed, supporting you, Noticing and becoming more aware of your surroundings right now. Whenever you're ready. Open your eyes and slowly look around the room, seeing what you see. Hearing what you hear and notice what you notice. Becoming more and more alert, but keeping some of those feelings of relaxation while your body responds. Feeling more energized, positive, refreshed and calm.
