Checking The Boxes On Cora And Tina

Loosely Inspired And Submitted To The Maps Of The Self Challenge

By Marc OBrienPublished 2 months ago 3 min read

During a lavish graduation ceremony, marking transition confirming climbing societal level status, both Cora and Tina achieved what they deserved. D’Ampezzo listened intently, ‘truly their tassels moved,” the track and field coach told the student reporter.

“They came here to run,” explained the athletic faculty member.

“And when done?” D’Ampezzo continued investigating.

“Awarded success.”

“Then five years later,”

“Two were happy, working together each performing tasks and completing duties until finished.”

“Thank you,” D’Ampezzo closed the spiral notebook, rising, departing the spacious office, bigger than the ones gracing Edelweiss University’s academic halls.

“Remember D’Ampezzo,” Coach intimidating stern face warned, “what you are looking for is intangible.”

Starting to map things out in his head, D’Ampezzo left the sweaty confines, quickly walking, next scholastic attraction, needed attention.

After sprinting, conquering the staircase, the information gatherer caught Dean Doctor Making Cents, leaving his miniature working area, hands full.

“Dean Making Cents,” D’Ampezzo called out.

“Budget will be approved,” Dean Cents barked back.

“Honestly, I wanted more information about the achievements made by Cora and Tina, here on campus?”

“Yes, Cora and Tina,” Dean Making Cents stopped and turned into a supportive figure, “what confirmed moving their tassels was showing a profitable bottom line when finals were graded, and reached qualifying marks waving flying colors.”

Dining commitments approached, D’Ampezzo dispensed the meal plan cafeteria menu and decided a trip over towards the culinary school, the proper evening strategy. Escaping through a parting of the bushes, revealing a wall opening, the factual storyteller headed across the street arriving at a small local Italian restaurant, servicing the community.

“Ah, the school of culinary arts,” D’Ampezzo sounded off, seeing the department store painting, decorating the lobby.

“D’Ampezzo, are you here to check out my new entree and write a story to let all your compatriots know they get a discount?” A burly individual emerged from the kitchen.

“Dean Chef Doctor Al Passetto,” D’Ampezzo greeted, “actually,”

“It’s complementary,” Chef Passetto reminded.

“If you say so, I guess I am going to be working late into the night,” D’Ampezzo mumbled, “I really wanted to ask you about Cora and Tina?”

“Cora and Tina,” Chef Passetto paused, “oh yeah, those joggers would come in here and keep me motivated.”

“How did they do that?” D’Ampezzo questioned.

“Bringing good customer service, dispensing fair advice, ensuring my culinary school restaurant received honor roll facility recognition, replacing the stale one that used to be here.”

After cleaning the dishes using bread and butter, D’Ampezzo tapped his pad and wondered,

“Over there,” Chef Passetto pointed across the street, “that is where they really excelled.” “The sorority?”

Positively, shaking his head, Chef Passetto confirmed and along with attached red sauce shirt stains D’Ampezzo ventured back into the darkness following the Italianate style house porch guiding light.

Reaching the door, D’Ampezzo knocked three times, and magically an upperclassman answered the call. Following a well scripted D’Ampezzo introduction, the maturing mind excused herself, only reappearing, handing over a typewritten sheet of paper.

“That is what we have on file about Cora and Tina,”

Walking off the pounds, obtained attending eating class, D’Ampezzo digested the Greek letter written, describing Cora and Tina, “it says here they were true sisters, sharing ideas, stories, and batons, creating winning atmospheres.”

Next day, D’Ampezzo successfully emailed the Cora Tina essay, hoping his editor friend Gazzetino across town, would give the piece newspaper space before patronizing the journalism course, the school required.

“When you investigate something that is wrong, map your actions out and take each step with an honest forceful attitude,” the lecturer instructed and forty-five minutes later D’Ampezzo approached wanting one on one attention, “where did you get that mapping out concept?”

“From you D’Ampezzo,” the professor explained, “good job.”

Taking the complement in stride, D’Ampezzo realized that due to implementing well thought out hustling behavior, ‘moving tassels soon will only involve chalking up credit cards’ and that is a twenty percent lifelong reality tip.
