Ayesha was employed in ICICI Bank's mutual fund division and was a final-year MA in Economics student at SV Commerce College in Ahmedabad's Relief Road. On July 6, 2018, she married Aarif, a mining supervisor who works for a private company. However, due to the suspected physical and mental abuse of Aarif, Ayesha had been staying in Vatva since 10 March 2020.

Ayesha Banu, a citizen of Almina Park in Vatva, Ahmedabad, recorded a video message and then jumped into the Sabarmati River on the afternoon of February 25th, allegedly due to harassment by her husband. A case of conspiracy to commit suicide has been filed against Aarif.

A video of Ayesha, a young woman, expressing her intention to commit suicide has gone viral on social media. According to information, committed suicide by falling into the Sabarmati River.

She says in the video, "I'm happy and I want to die in peace, I don't want to fight, I love Aarif." her husband, whom she married in 2018. Aarif and his family allegedly started threatening Ayesha for dowry after their marriage. She had filed a case against her husband, mother-in-law, and father-in-law at Vatva Police Station, and a case of domestic abuse had also been filed.

"Dear Father, when are planning to continue your case?" she asked.? Don't let Ayesha fight and she doesn't want to fight for her anymore. If Aarif wants democracy, he's free. Let's live our life, that's the chance. I'm happy, I'm going to see Allah, I'm going to tell him where I went wrong? I've had good parents, great friends, but I either missed something or my fate."

She said, "This is a lovely river, and I hope it will swallow me, I'm like the winds; I want to flow... I'm so pleased today... Remember me with your prayers. Don't know whether I'm going to heaven or not.

Before jumping into the Sabarmati River, Ayesha even called her husband. Before committing suicide, she even called her friends. Her parents were trying to persuade Ayesha to reconsider her mind, but they were unable.

Since her body was found later that night, the police originally filed an accidental death report. However, after the video message had surfaced, Aarif was booked under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code to commit suicide at the Sabarmati Riverfront West Police Station.

Ayeesha's father said he had paid Rs 1.5 lakh approximately ($2045.80) in dowry to Aarif on January 26, 2020. Even in 2019, the FIR was lodged against Aarif and his parents at Vatva Police Station for domestic abuse after Ayesha had claimed that she had been beaten up at her home in Jalore.

Police also collected Ayesha's Call Detail Records (CDR) which revealed that she had a 72-minute talk with Aarif on February 25 before taking the drastic action. Ayesha had had a five-minute talk with her parents, in which the latter was told to request not to take the drastic step, the police said.

Her father, Liyaqat Ali Makrani, told The Indian Express that after speaking with Ayesha on February 25, he dialed 100 and informed the police that his daughter might have committed suicide near the riverfront. Ayesha's body was found by fire safety authorities at 4:30 p.m. on the same day.

Arif Khan was arrested in Rajasthan from Pali. Earlier, a police team had reached Jalore at his residence, where he had not been found. Later, by a forensic examination, we took the accused from Pali. He'll be taken to Ahmedabad on a transit order on Tuesday."

"I'm frustrated, I can't bear it any longer, He (her husband Arif) wants freedom, I'm going to give him freedom."
