A Short Story of Love
A tale of love and friendship
Just wanted to share a short story I wrote about two adults in love during the Christmas season:
So, when she wondered where her fiancé was, she was apprehensive about the Christmas gift she was going to give him.
He was supposed to show up at her house as he was visiting Washington from London and dine with her parents and her.
Meanwhile, he was out in the Washington mall to find gifts for her family and her.
He bought a bracelet for her and some snacks for the household.
Then he straightened his red silk tie and took a taxi to their house.
He arrived two hours late. He had met an old man on the way to their house. The old man insisted he knew him and confused, he visited the old man's house.
There he found that the old man was his best friend's grandfather. He had not seen this friend since school. He wished his friend's family and him and left to see his fiancé.
When he reached his fiancé's house, he exchanged wishes with her family and her.
But unfortunately, they were both equally sad to see each other. She, because he arrived late and she grew afraid of the idea of spending time away from her parents and with him. And he, because he realized how much he had changed and wondered if she would accept all his facets as her husband.
So they talked, and had dinner before they found a corner in the living room to exchange a private conversation.
They asked each other about each other's health and honestly admitted their reservations to each other.
He assured her that he would settle with her and her parents and would take her as a respectable person and their loving daughter first. She said she was once a little girl too and could appreciate his journey growing up.
They exchanged honest, frightful, and humorous stories about their lives and grew towards one another with love.
There was one where he was fighting with his sister. His mother told him to resolve things peacefully by being a considerate child and she told his sister the same. Soon they were able to resolve things peacefully and reach a compromise.
Another one was when she felt undervalued when she was overweight and teased in school. Her mother told her that she would always love her as the person she is and that if her friends didn't see that she was better off without them being her friends. Hopefully, they will change and someday see her for her and not just her looks.
Also when she went fishing and her father joked the entire time knowing she was uncomfortable and when they were done they realized to her surprise, she managed to bait the hook, catch and collect the fish. Somethings she thought she could never do.
He then told her about when his teacher was super mean to him and when school ended, he realized that that teacher was the friendliest and most helpful to him and he was very grateful.
One day when she was at the park, she bought some flowers and leaves which were on the ground home. Her mother disposed of them. She was angry at first but now grown up, she realized that that was the best thing to do as the flowers were dirty and could have insects. However that day she was angry and upset.
They realized how big a role their elders played in their life and decided to be better people to them and also to their children in the future.
One day they finally married and grew as a family with some happy and some bad days in love, gratitude, and with care and concern for all.
