A Pagan Life 3

similar to the house Evelyn lives in

Evelyn didn't know how ayone could leave someone like either of her two aunts. She saw how they got in their own ways, but they did it so beautifully and pricelessly that it made one want to forgive them.

The funny thing was that the policy in the entire household was that anyone could voice a point of contention if they needed to. The one the complain was against had to hear them out, but did not have to make any changes that went against their scruples.

Evelyn even continued to carry this out with Tom and with Katherine while she was there.

Even her aunts' walks expressed their personalities. The both walked with strength and purpose, though Eliabeth added more of an earth mother sensual hip emphasis to hers.

Elizabeth was curvy and slim. She walked into any roomlike a goddess with the commanding presence of one. She seemed haughty but wasn't. She was just past everyone's shit, but still a lady about it, unless the other person's gloves came off first. She could always sense when they were. Then, her silver-tongued wit came out. And if anyone was rude to Elsie or Evelyn and they couldn't defend themselves, out came Elizabeth's mama bear.

Evelyn was that way about Tom or Katherine.

Elsie was more repressed than Elizabeth. She would rather take regue in intellectualism and avoid a conflict even at the cost of her self-respect. Elizabeth was the one who brought out her assertive side so she could express it in a healthy way. She had a naturally skinny frame with a slight bit of what she liked to call old fat, fat due to old age, on her. She was no less beautiful for it.

While elsie tended to hide herself, Elizabeth showed herself. One time, Elizabeth went on an anger walk without Elsie and came back having given her number to what turned out to be her boyfriend for the rest of her life.

Elsie's came, but she was much shyer with him so it went much slower.

They never moved in, but they did stay over.

Elsie's room had been the room across from Evelyn's bedroom that was Elizabeth's room at that time. The attic office used to be Evelyn's office and the office across from the lower bedroom was Elsie and Elizabeth's office.

Evelyn came to live with Elsie and Elizabeth when her parents couldn't raise her. she was so strong and intense and not what they'd bargained for as a child.

Her parents had told her they adoted her from her mother's niece. How convenient and tidy- someone they knew. Her aunts were old friends of her mother's, the emotionally adopted kind. She came to live with them when she was eleven. As soon as she started Awakening, the process of remembering one's entire existence's worth of lives, she knew she wasn't born into that life. She'd brought herself back because she'd heard her past life husband crying while listening to the song "Honey" by Bobby Goldsboro on an old ham radio of his dad's that happened to double as an actual listening radio. He'd been sitting at a breakfast counter, leaning forward since he was crying so heavily. She apparently astrally appeared as a cherub. She'd reverted to being a baby and agreed to come back as a Watcher, an angel that comes to earth to protect humans against djinn. Most know shem as dissonants or dissos for short.

She also knew she'd been pregnant when kidnapped from her previous life, but somehow her baby had been c-sectioned out of her. It turned out Tom had done it. Being trained as an army medic came in really handy.

Sadly, Tom had been portrayed as too crazy to raised Katherine, so shee'd been adopted out. He stayed in contact and helped support her. It didn't help he'd tried to kill himself juster after Evelyn, Tori at the time, had been kidnapped and declared dead. There were those who suspected Tom of killing her. No one believed him when he claimed she'd climbed out of her grave, or that someone dug it up. He'd even planted a rose bush over her grave that Evelyn later remembered.

She came to call Tom a seemingly offensive name that made him laugh at himself becauseof how she meant it: assface. Because of severe burns to his face during his childhood, he'd had to have some of his butt skin grafted to his face. Whenever Tom would ruminate about the murder accusations, EVelyn would say, "Hey, assface," and play him "I Used to Love Her" by Guns 'n' Roses. It would make him laugh every time.

It was because of that ability to make him laugh at himself that Tom asked Evelyn to marry him. Her cooking wasn't bad either.

"Are you asking me this for the baby?"

"No. I would never do that."

"Okay. Then I accept."

He smiled, got up from where he was kneeling, and kissed her passionately.

She grinned, then giggled.
