A New Home, A New Adventure: The Tale of Two Sisters
The Joys and Challenges of Moving Day
Scarlett peeks over the cereal boxes and grins.

"Here, you can have the last of the Coco Pops," she says, pouring them into my bowl and shaking the empty box.
"Thanks, Scarlett," I reply, delighted to get my favourite cereal.
"No problem," she says, grabbing a bowl of Shreddies for herself.
We both laugh, enjoying our breakfast together. Our fun is interrupted when Mummy walks in.
"What’s going on in here?" she asks, hands on her hips as she surveys the cereal and milk on the floor.
"We were just sharing breakfast," we say in unison.
“She gave me the last of the Coco Pops,” I explain.
Mummy raises an eyebrow but places a box of Shreddies on the table. “There’s plenty of Shreddies if you want more.”
Scarlett gives me a warm smile. “Don’t worry, we’ll get more Coco Pops at the new house.”
“Thanks, Scarlett,” I say, returning her smile.
“Girls, finish up quickly. The movers will be here any minute,” Mummy says, rushing out to find her phone.
I stir my cereal, looking around the kitchen that feels less like home with all our things packed away. Even the cat baskets are gone.
“Where’s Katy Parry?” Mummy asks, holding an empty crate.
“I let her out earlier,” I say. “She must be hiding.”
Mummy’s face softens a bit, though her eyes are still worried. “We need to find her before we leave.”
Scarlett pats my back reassuringly. “We’ll find her together.”
Just then, Daddy walks in, whistling. “Morning, everyone! Ready for the big move?”
“We need to find Katy Parry,” Mummy says.
“No problem, we’ll look together,” Daddy replies, grabbing his coffee.
We all search the house and the garden until we find Katy Parry snoozing under a bush. Scarlett and I carefully coax her into her crate, relieved that she’s safe.
The movers arrive, and Daddy jokes with them, lightening the mood. “Alright girls, time to pack up your last things.”
Scarlett and I race upstairs to gather our bags. “I bet the new house will be amazing,” she says.
“Yeah, I can’t wait to decorate our rooms,” I agree.
Back downstairs, Daddy loads our bags into the car while Mummy checks on everything one last time. The movers are busy loading the truck, and soon enough, the house is empty.
As we get into the car, Mummy asks, “Ready for our new adventure?”
Scarlett and I nod enthusiastically. “Ready!”
The drive to the new house is filled with chatter about how we’ll set up our new rooms and all the fun we’ll have exploring the neighbourhood. When we arrive, Scarlett turns to me and says, “You should pick your room first.”
“Really?” I ask, surprised.
“Yeah, it’s only fair after you let me have the last of the Coco Pops,” she says with a grin.
I smile back, knowing we’re in this together. “Thanks, Scarlett. Let’s go find our new rooms.”
We race inside, laughter echoing through the empty halls as we start our new adventure.
Upon entering the new house, the air buzzes with excitement. Boxes are scattered everywhere, and the movers are already bustling about, placing items in various rooms. The house feels vast and full of possibilities.
Mummy and Daddy start giving directions to the movers while Scarlett and I explore. Each room we enter seems bigger than the last. We finally reach the top floor where the bedrooms are.
“This one has a great view,” Scarlett says, pointing to a room with large windows that overlook a garden. “But you get first pick.”
I walk into the room next door. It’s slightly smaller, but it has a cosy feel with a big closet and a window seat. “I like this one,” I say.
Scarlett peeks in and nods. “Good choice. It looks like a perfect reading nook by the window.”
We head back downstairs to find Mummy unpacking kitchen items. “Mum, we picked our rooms!” I announce.

“That’s great, girls,” she says, smiling. “Why don’t you start unpacking your things? It’ll make the rooms feel more like yours.”
Scarlett and I drag our bags upstairs and begin unpacking. We hang up clothes, set up bookshelves, and place our favourite toys in special spots. It’s hard work, but we make it fun by playing music and dancing around as we organize.
Later, Daddy calls us downstairs. “Who’s up for a pizza break?” he asks.
“Me!” Scarlett and I shout together.
We gather in the living room, sitting on the floor amidst the boxes, and share a pizza. It feels like an indoor picnic, and we laugh as we talk about how we’ll decorate the rest of the house.
As the evening settles in, Mummy suggests we take a walk around the neighbourhood to get familiar with our new surroundings. We stroll down the street, greeting neighbours and discovering a nearby park.
“This place is amazing,” Scarlett says, twirling around in the playground.
“I know! I can’t wait to come here every day after school,” I reply, swinging on the monkey bars.
When we return home, we’re tired but happy. Mummy tucks us into bed, and as she kisses us goodnight, she says, “I’m so proud of you girls for making this move so easy.”
“Thanks, Mum,” we both whisper, already feeling at home.
As I lie in bed, I think about how lucky I am to have a sister like Scarlett. Despite our little arguments, we always look out for each other. Moving to a new house is a big change, but having her by my side makes it an adventure.
The next morning, we wake up to the sound of birds chirping outside. The sun streams through the windows, filling our new rooms with light. Scarlett knocks on my door, and we head downstairs together, ready to start our first full day in our new home.
Over breakfast, Daddy tells us about the local school and the fun activities we can join. “You’ll make new friends in no time,” he says, ruffling our hair.
Scarlett and I grin at each other, excited for what’s to come. We spend the day exploring the house further, discovering hidden nooks and planning where to hang our favourite posters.
In the afternoon, we decide to bake cookies with Mummy. The kitchen fills with the sweet smell of chocolate chips and vanilla, and we end up covered in flour, giggling as we try to clean up.
By evening, the house feels less like a collection of boxes and more like home. We settle into our new routines, finding comfort in the familiar amidst the new.
As I climb into bed that night, I look out the window at the starry sky and feel a sense of contentment. This new house is the beginning of a wonderful adventure, and I’m glad I get to share it with my family.
With a smile, I close my eyes and drift off to sleep, dreaming of all the exciting possibilities that await us in our new home.
