A Letter Of Gratitude

Dear Nancy:

The first thing people notice about you, is your giving heart, and your unwavering faith. You truly embody the wisdom of letting the least of these end, and you remind others that when things feel hopeless, hope is not dead, we have Hope in Christ and hope in people like you, who give of themselves until it hurts.

I’ve know you for years now, and that has been a beautiful gift and for nearly three years I have acted as liasion betwwen my Church and your ministry, And when I remind others of what you are doing they are amazed. I’ve seen your heartbroken, and I’ve seen you rejoice. I have been comforted by you, and have comforted you, because some stories just break your heart.

I wsh I could count the number of people you have impacted in the years you have been in ministry. I wish I could share the testimony of every person you have impacted, but that would be endless.

In the work you do for Christ, you have seen the best of humanity and The worst. You have been threatened, and bullied and still you go on, with a smile and a whole lot of faith.

Because of your ministry, children who may not otherwise have a Christmas do, those who may not otherwise have a meal do, And the homeless have tents and sleeping bags to keep them warm.

When you first started your ministry, it was bringing rolling clothes carts to an apartment complex, across from where we lived, and now its so much bigger.

That little seed planted, has since become something huge, but always you remind us, that you could not do any of this without the Lord, or the volunteers who step up, but you deserve credit too, when that seed was planted had you not cultivated it, it would not be what it is today.

You listened to that call, followed where Christ led, despite the heartbreak along the way, but there's been joy too, moments where we are reminded that with Jesus anything is possible.

I can't count the lives you saved, or the people who have been given a second chance because of you.

So much has changed since you begun this journey but your Faith has only grown, and I'm grateful to be able to watch that.

Somedays weigh on me, losses, frustrations, feeling like you aren't doing enough, and sometimes people are so blinded by life's pain, they just lash out on the ones that are trying to help.

And yes there can be danger in what we do, threats, anger, but we have things in place for that too, and you always remind us if a situation gets dangerous, whether it be danger from a person, or from the weather we come first. Because as you often remind us, we have to take care of ourselves before we can take of others.

But sometimes we are the ones reminded you, to stop, to breath, to eat, and that tears are okay. Because there are days the pain weighs heavy on you, and days when we can celebrate.

But always there's more to do, people to pray for, lives to grieve. There are days when it takes everything we got simply tp move forward, and days we are reminded its okay to rest too.

So Nancy, I hope, you never for a moment doubt the impact your ministry has made, to our community, your volunteers, each of us individually.

We are grateful for that seed, you cultivated and grew into what it is today, And most of all we are grateful for you!

Love in Christ
