A Better Nights Rest
Staying on the healthier side
My 2022 Resolution... A better nights rest.
Prioritizing sleep is a great goal to fulfil throughout the year. I know to get a better nights rest you need to take care of your body. My steps this year for a better nights rest can be simple or difficult depending on how you look at it. To get a healthy nights rest you also got to focus on your health. Here are a few things I am going to focus on for this new year, 2022 for my sleep.
1. Making sure I get a nice workout for the day.
If we sit around and do nothing our sleep won't be normal. We sit and fall asleep and then that causes us to mess up our sleeping pattern. Then we are unable to sleep well throughout the night. I know that I myself haven't been as active last year, and my sleep was very abnormal. So my goal is trying to stay active through the day. I'm not talking about a hard workout, just trying to walk more throughout the day. My goal is to walk 10,000 steps a day. It's enough to make you tired, and enough to have a healthy rest. Plus, walking a decent amount of steps a day, have a lot of benefits. You can even lookup "walking benefits" it even states that walking improves a better nights rest. Walking will, strengthen your muscles, supports your joints, improve your circulation, and it can even lighten your mood (especially if you listen to music.) A better mood a better sleep. Walking about 30 minutes a day will also help with weight loss. So no big workout just enough to keep your body going.
2. Keeping track of my water intake.
Now, what would water have to do with sleep? It's all about taking care of your body. The healthier your body is the healthier rest you should get. Drinking water has a lot of advantages, but make sure you don't over drink water. To calculate your water you must calculate it by your weight, there should be a calculator on the internet you could use. Most usually say 8 cups of 8 fluid ounces a day. For me , I started drinking about 6 to 8 cups of 16 fluid ounces a day so roughly 96 to 128 fluid ounces a day. I know I lost track of my water last year because I always felt thirsty. Since I started watching my intake I noticed I haven't been as thirsty. We all sometimes get so busy throughout the day we forget to stop and take a drink of water or we drink sugary, or caffeinated drinks in place of water. We get tired and think right away we need coffee or something caffeinated but you are wrong 100%. Sure coffee can help but your body needs plain water. So I want to focus on drinking more water for all the health benefits. Drinking the water you need will help prevent constipation, so all those nights you would spend in the bathroom trying to go, you could be sleeping. Since I started watching my intake and drinking what I need I have noticed a difference. There are so much more to it too! Drinking more water will help with, carrying nutrients and oxygen to your cells , flushing bacteria from your bladder, aiding digestion , again prevent constipation , normalize blood pressure, stabilize the heartbeat , cushioning joints, protect organs and tissues , regulating body temperature , and maintain your electrolyte's (sodium) balance. Should I say more? Just be sure you don't drink to much it can flush your kidneys, they wouldn't be able to get rid of the excess water. I would say if your healthy a gallon a day wouldn't be to much. My doctor said I was fine drinking a gallon. Talk to your doctor if you want to know the exact amount you should drink.
Small Tip: Lemon Water
I am also adding lemon to my water first thing in the mornings. Lemon water also has a lot of benefits. It can help with your general health! And a healthier body the better the sleep! That's is the way I look at it. Lemon water can improve skin quality, aid digestion, and may help prevent kidney stones. Lemon water will also help cleanse your liver!
3. Trying to Eat Healthier
Instead of doing a certain diet I just want to focus on eating healthier in general, less sugar and cut down on breaded things. My diet plan is to just eat more fruits, veggies, and meat. My husband and I have a habit of going out to eat, I think it's time to put a stop to it and eat much healthier. I would also like to have a better set time for my meals as well. Trying to not eat so late will help to have a better sleep because the food you eat late don't get digested properly. Which can cause stomach problems and it's hard to sleep when your not feeling well. Eating late will eventually condition your body to store calories as fat, then you will gain unnecessary weight. No one wants unnecessary weight. Then it could give you problems like indigestion and heartburn. So over all eating healthier is part of the key for a better nights sleep.
4. No device after a certain time
So many things take up our time and most of it is our devises. You know we all lay in bed and scroll through social media, and lose track of time. Then we lose time for sleep cause we have a job or things to do in the morning. The more time we spend on social media or on anything the less time we have for a good nights sleep. It's sometimes hard to just put the device down and focus on family, and the time we need to take to get ready for our minds to relax. So if I could one of my steps to a healthier sleep would be to put my devices down after 8:30 pm. Less distractions and more time for my mind to relax.
5. The most obvious step, a comfortable bed.
For a beautiful nights rest I most definitely want the perfect bed! I haven't tried Lull yet but I sure do want too! We always plan to have a beautiful day, a perfect house, an awesome car, and we want to have the best life. So why don't we splurge a bit to find ourselves the most beautiful, comfortable and perfect bed? Even if it costs you money to find the perfect one, we should do it. You know we only live once and you don't want to start your day off bad because your bed isn't comfortable. We always spend loads of money with diet plans to lose weight and be healthier. Well being healthier also includes your sleep, so splurge and find you the perfect bed, for your perfect nights rest. I know, I will, its about time I get a new bed too! I am dyeing to buy a Lull bed! I may be their next customer!
My hopes for 2022 are high! With a better and healthier life style and a better sleep! Plus all the steps I mentioned will eventually help with weightless! Its not hard work either! Just focusing on your bodies general health will help you lose a few pounds. I already started my 2022 resolution, and I have noticed a difference! When I stop anything, I can tell the difference in my sleeping pattern or even in the way my body is acting. I want to keep doing everything I listed! Because it's really beneficial and it really seems like it helps. I feel healthier when I follow my resolution so I defiantly want to keep doing it. My next step is getting a better bed and hopefully it is for you too!
