It must be noted that there are people who have never experienced a breakup, so, they have no idea how hard it is to move on after it happens. Though it is hard, it is clearly not impossible.

Interestingly, while it is hard to break up, moving on is also difficult. Two stumbling blocks that people experience after the breakup happens are the fact that they do not really want to move on and they do not know how to move on.

How To Move On

For those who have done the dumping or recently got dumped, it will be beneficial to you to think of ways or a plan that will help you begin moving on in a good direction, which is moving away from him or her.

Some of the three surefire ways to move on after a breakup are:

1. Take control of your emotions:

Although the relationship has come to an end, it is very difficult to simply let go of the connection you shared with that person. However, whenever the memories show up on your mind do not freak out or take it like some sign to call them up.

Simply remind yourself about the reasons you broke things off or the reason they broke up with you. As you do this, place your attention on somebody you care about, which of course, is you.

More so, as you take control of these emotions without panicking, do not have the mentality that you will be over the break up when certain things occur. This will only make you end up pushing away your healing.

Sometimes, you will never get the explanation or apology you think you deserve and this is why your healing cannot rely on that. It is only normal that things remind you of them, this is why there is no ideal or perfect type of closure even if the relationship was a good one.

2. The embargo of social media platforms:

Once the breakup happens, it is advisable most of the time to block your ex from reaching out to you on the social media platforms and vice versa. The aim of blocking is to convince yourself psychologically that it is a point of no return.

Take it as a foolproof plan to ensure you do not back slide into any old habits with your ex or try making up excuses to get back into each other’s lives. Best believe that you really do not need to be aware of whatever they get up to.

In other news, you are to avoid falling for the trap of stalking their social media even if you have mutual friends. When you know what they are up to, you will surely not be helping yourself to move on.

And, if you do not block them at first but find yourself checking their social media handles obsessively, it will be best to unfriend, hide or block them, depending on the options you have on these apps.

Note that, if you cannot do it on your own, you can ask your friend to help you.

3. New activities:

Engaging in new activities as a diversion is always ideal. You can plan a trip, get to learn something new or practically do anything to keep your mind busy.

According to experts, when the human brain is forced to learn something and be familiar with a new craft or skill, it will not be capable of giving enough attention to the emotions caused by the breakup.

As stated earlier, you can go for that trip you have always wanted to go, learn a new language, take up on a new skill, just do everything you always wanted to do but never did.

Conclusion:

Generally, breakups are parts of almost every relationship. While it is bitter and hard for those involved, you surely need to move on when it ends. It is a tough phase but you can get through it. Those who have experienced it can always tell you all you need to know.
