2Baba opens up

Nigerian musician 2Baba was a guest on the B2G network, and during his time on the show, 2Baba was asked to explain how he not only owns mistakes, but also, how he handles people dragging him for actions that they disagree with that he has taken.

During the show, he was asked "A lot of us make mistakes in our lives, and we make them in private. Even when we make those mistakes, maybe before 10 people, we are depressed. Some of us never recover. I mean, you made several wrong turns before the nation, the world, and I mean, some people would never ever bounce back. How do you handle it?"

Responding, 2Baba said:

2BABA: I think part of the answer is inside what you just said: accepting, you know, responsibility for your actions. You understand? And that is key. You don't have to deceive yourself, because when you deceive yourself, na yourself you dey deceive, you know?

So, for me, I just knew that, you know, I have to stand up to, you know, I have to face my—I have to stand up to my responsibilities, yeah. You know, and then, you know, I mean, sometimes some things happen, when people talk, you become the subject of all kinds of jokes and headlines and all those malicious comments and stuff and all that, you know, it hurts, man. It gets to you sometimes.

But just knowing that this is the way of the world, you just have to be able to just try and just grow some thick skin and just, you know, say, you know what? I'm still going to keep my head high 'cause I know that, you know, where I'm going is bigger and better than all this stuff. And I know that, you know, that doesn't define me, that doesn't make me a bad person or a monster.

It is within you. You have to cheer yourself up. You have to just blank and just move. Sometimes you even laugh at jokes that are even channeled at you. Just look at the humor in it, you know, and just—just laugh. Always try to turn, you know, every situation into positive, because for me, there's one thing that I always like to reason: no matter what comes up, I just know that the minute I start worrying too much, that becomes the more problem.

And I know that anything that comes up, there is a solution, no matter what it is. Just think about it. Anything, there is a solution. So, the only thing that you have just have to start thinking about is just to think about what's the solution to this thing.

It might be difficult to get immediately, but once you know there's a solution, just open your brain, think, and before you know, the solution comes. Sometimes you might think this is the solution, you try, e no work, still, you know, try another one. It's like that. There's no blueprint on how to handle stuff or how to do stuff."
