You Must Keep Your Restored Vision Hidden

By Susan YPublished 3 years ago 18 min read

I lost my sight in an accident three months ago.

My parents and I moved to a house in the countryside in order to be quiet and recuperate.

My husband, Mike, doesn't come here to accompany me until he is off duty every Friday.

I miraculously recovered my eyesight this Friday.

When I was about to tell this good news to my parents, a voice came to my mind, "don't tell them that you have recovered your eyesight."

I waved my hand in front of my eyes to make sure I actually saw it.

But who is talking to me?

At this moment, there is only me in the room. Who do you mean by "them"?

For the past three months, only Mike and my parents have been in and out of the house.

At this time, someone knocked on the door of my room.

"Sherry, I made some juice for you." her mother's amiable voice came from outside the door.

"Don't tell them you can see."

I opened the bedroom door slowly with hesitation. The woman outside surprised me.

She is not my mother.

She is a beautiful woman at my age, but her voice is the same as my mother's.

A great fear came over me, and my legs were so weak that I fell to the ground.

It suddenly occurred to me that I couldn't be found by them. I could see.

"Sherry, what's wrong with you? Are you not feeling well?"the woman put down the juice and walked to me worriedly.

"I suddenly felt dizzy and lost my balance." I tried to stand up in a panic with my back against the door.

"Let me help you to the bed and have a rest." the woman reached out her hand with bright red nail polish and helped me to the bedside. She said expressionlessly.

I looked ahead blankly. "I want to sleep for a while. I'll drink juice later."

The woman didn't say anything and shook her hand tentatively in front of me.

I endured the impulse to blink my eyes and looked ahead in a daze.

"Okay," the woman closed the door and left.

At this moment, my back has been wet with cold sweat.

Where is my mother? Who was this woman?

I was so worried about my mother that I decided to leave the room and look for her.

It was the first time I had seen a scene in the room.

It was a two-story house.

I stood on the two floors and saw a man sitting on the sofa in the living room, reading the newspaper with his back to me.

I looked around and made sure that the woman was not in the living room. Then I gently called, "Dad!"

The man turned around and I saw his face clearly.

For an instant, fear swept over me again.

It was not my father's face. It was a face I had never seen before.

"Sherry, what's wrong?"

But the man spoke in the same voice as my father.

I forced a smile and said, "nothing, Dad."

"Sherry, didn't you say that you would sleep for a while?"

The woman stealthily appeared beside me.

"Mom, I just lay down and felt my body was all right, so I want to go out for a walk." I said with a smile.

"Then I'll bring you some juice."

She brought out a glass of juice from her room and placed it in my hand.

At this moment, I am nervous and scared.

I don't know if this woman has added something strange to the juice, but she has been staring at me, so I can only take a sip.

"Sherry, what's wrong with you? Your forehead is sweating and your face is pale. "the woman still sensed that something was wrong with me.

She approached me stealthily and stared straight into my eyes.

"I'm fine. I just don't know when my eyes will recover." I pretended to be desperate.

The woman smiled weirdly. "Don't worry. You will be fine."

I forced a smile.

After returning to my room, I immediately locked the door and anxiously looked out of the window, hoping that Mike would come back soon.

It suddenly occurred to me that I could contact Mike on my phone.

So I quickly took out my phone from the drawer of the table, which had not been used for a long time.

My phone was powered off and lying quietly in the drawer because I was blind.

I tried to turn it on. Fortunately, I still have 5% power.

I immediately called Mike.

Mike comes back every weekend. Does he not realize that those two outside are not my parents?

Just then, the phone was connected.

Mike's voice was still soft. "Sherry, what's wrong? I'm on my way back."

For an instant, I did not know whether to trust Mike or not.

All I could say was, "OK, I got it! I miss you."

Mike: "Well, listen to the song. I'll be back in 30 minutes."

My heart did not feel safe because Mike was going to return, but more nervous.

Suddenly there was a knock at my door.

"Sherry, it's time for your medicine."

My father's voice came in.

But I knew it wasn't my father at the door.

My heart was racing and I was staring at the door.

Suddenly there was the sound of a door handle being turned.

Sherry, why did you lock the door? Your eyes won't heal without medicine."

The man outside tried to trick me into opening the door.

I swear I will not open that door even if I die, unless Mike arrives.

"Asleep?" " the man said to himself.

Then came the sound of his feet moving away.

I collapsed on the bed.

How could Mike fail to recognize that the two men outside were not my parents at all?

My head was in a whirl.

What if Mike came back with a face I did not know?

That reminds me, I have a cell phone. I want to call the police.

So I picked up my phone and dialed a number. I was about to press the call button when my phone went completely dead.

I immediately put down my phone and frantically searched the room for a charger.

But strangely enough, after searching the whole room, I could not find the charger.

It occurred to me that the man's mobile phone appeared to be charging on the tea table.

There must be a phone charger in the living room.

So I plucked up courage, opened the door and went out.

The room was very quiet. Those two should be in my parents' room.

I went down in silence to the living room. As expected, the charging lines were there.

I was so happy that I was about to pull out the charger, but I felt something strange behind me.

I turned around and saw a blank face.

Her face was very close to mine, and she smiled silently.

"Sherry, I find that you walk much faster than before. Can you see that?"

In an instant, fear rose from the soles of my feet to my head.

My heart beat faster.

She was staring at me.

"Mom, don't be kidding. I will tell you for the first time that my sight has returned. I just miss Mike so much that I want to call him. That's why I left in a hurry."

Worried that the woman wouldn't believe me, I continued, "besides, I've been living here for more than three months. I'm familiar with the decoration in the room, so I walk fast naturally.".

The woman smiled dreamily, and touched my face with hands painted red as blood.

Her skin was so cold that I shivered.

"If you have recovered, don't hide it from dad and mom, ok? Sherry."

She continued, "come on, let me charge your phone."

The woman took my phone, put it on the charger and went back to her room.

I sat in the living room and waited for my phone to turn on.

Suddenly, I heard a voice from the kitchen.

I looked at the place where the sound came from and my face turned pale in an instant.

The door of the cupboard opened a crack, and a pair of bloodless hands fell out.

There was a familiar mark on the back of one of the hands.

This is my mother's hand.

With my eyes wide open, I walked to the cupboard trembling.

It was obvious that it was not living hands.

My mother is not missing. She was just killed.

They killed my mother and hid their corpses in the cupboard.

I want to get out of here now.

When I turned around, I saw the man walking towards me with a smile.

His eyes first fell on his hand that fell out of the cupboard, and then suddenly looked at me.

"Sherry, what are you doing here? Why are your eyes so red?"

The man's voice was very concerned, but I saw him pick up a sharp fruit knife from the knife shelf and walk towards me.

Suddenly, he raised the fruit knife and stabbed me in the eye.

My strong desire to live told me not to be discovered by him.

I turned a blind eye to the knife a centimeter away from me, my eyeballs immobile.

The man slowly put down the knife.

"Sherry, Mike come back tonight. Dad will cook his favorite barbecue."

The man put down the knife with a smile, and then I saw him open the cupboard.

My mother's head rolled in front of me, her bulging eyes looking straight at me.

I almost screamed.

But I still pretended not to see it and smiled at him.

"Okay, Dad."

What happened next made me more frightened and angry.

The man dragged my mother's body out of the cupboard and threw it on the table.

"Dad found a wild boar, Mike gonna have a great feast."

I watched the man pick up the machete and walk towards the corpse.

My stomach was vomiting faintly, and at the same time my heart was filled with great grief and despair.

I could not stay in the kitchen any longer. I took a deep breath and said with a smile, "Dad, I'm tired. Go back to my room and have a rest."

"Go ahead. Dad is cooking dinner,"the man replied with a smile.

When I reached my room, I buried my head in the quilt and burst into tears.

My beloved mother is dead, and it is probable that my father has been killed.

I took a deep breath and called the police.

I told the police what had happened to me and my address.

The police told me they would be there in half an hour and asked me to lock the door and not to go out.

I locked the door immediately after I hung up.

The police will arrive here in half an hour. I have to keep myself safe.

Suddenly I heard footsteps upstairs.

The man's voice came from outside, "Sherry, dad has prepared the barbecue. Come down and taste it."

I was very angry when I heard what the man had said.

I stared at the door.

"Sherry, please let mom help massage your eyes. The doctor says massaging your eyes will help recover your vision."

"Mom, I want to be alone for a while," I said nervously.

At this time, the key was inserted into the lock hole.

This woman actually has the key to my door.

I'll hide under the bed immediately.

Suddenly, I found someone writing something on the bed board with a pen.

Before I could have a look, the woman came in.

"Sherry, where are you? Is such a big person still playing hide-and-seek with mom and Dad?" The woman's voice sounded very grim.

I hid under the bed and didn't dare to make a sound.

She opened all the doors and checked every corner of my room.

Just as I was praying desperately not to be discovered by them, their cold and ruthless faces appeared at the bottom of the bed and smiled weirdly at me.

"So you are here, Sherry."

I tried my best to hold back the angry scream in my throat.

"You find me as easily as ever." I smiled and crawled out from under the bed.

The woman looked at me and sighed.

"You still play hide and seek as you did when you were a child. Do you remember that game of hide-and-seek where you hid behind a closet in the basement? There was so much clutter in there that you got all dirty."

What she said surprised me.

This is exactly what happened to me when I was a kid, but how does this woman know?

I was playing hide-and-seek with my parents at home, and my mom found me in a pile in the basement. She helped me out of the mess. Eventually, I accidentally knocked off an ancient lampshade, and my mother shielded my head with her hand, leaving an ugly scar on the back of my hand.

I'm confused. How did she know what had happened to me when I was a child?

Seeing that I did not speak, the woman came and touched my head.

"Sherry, we all know what happened between you and Mike. It's a matter between you two. You can only solve it by yourselves. No matter what decision you make, dad and mom will support you."

"Our Sherry is so kind. Why do we want bad guys like Mike?" "said the man indignantly.

I looked at the man in amazement. "What's wrong with Mike?"

They looked at each other.

The woman said carefully, "Sherry, have you forgotten what happened before the accident? You went to Mike's work, saw him with a woman in his arms, and you called me as you were driving home. You had an accident on the way."

"When you woke up, you didn't remember what happened that day. We've been afraid to mention it for fear of upsetting you."

I fell on the bed feebly. It turned out that this was the reason why I had an accident.

No, I cannot trust them.

They were the murderers of my parents.

"I...... I was tired and wanted to lie down for a while. Don't call me for supper."

After saying that, I went to bed and lay down with my face to the wall.

"Well, have a good rest." then the two men closed the door and left my room.

My mind is a mess. I stared at the wall with my eyes open, and for a long time could not make it out.

As my eyes adjusted to the darkness of the room, I thought of going to the window to see if the police had arrived.

I almost screamed when I sat up!

The two men stood in the doorway staring at me with blank faces. The moonlight outside the window shone on their feet, and their eyes were shining in the dark corner.

I tried to hold back my heart, which was ready to spring out. I fumbled on the bedside table and muttered, "I'm so thirsty! Where's the juice?"

Pretending to take a sip of juice, I went back to bed. Under their intense gaze, I didn't dare to move.

At last, I fell asleep under their gaze.

I didn't know how long I had slept before I woke up in Mike's call.

"Sherry, I heard from dad and mom that you are not feeling well. What's wrong?" Mike asked gently.

I'm lying on the bed in a daze, staring at the smallpox.

I don't dare to look at Mike's face. I'm afraid it's a strange face again.

At this time, Mike's face suddenly appeared in front of me. "What's the matter? Still out of it? Don't sleep. Get up and eat something. We're all waiting for you to get up for dinner."

I touched his face excitedly to make sure it was true.

Great, Mike is still Mike!

I hugged Mike for joy. "It's so good that you're back!"

I had a flash of inspiration when I was leaning on Mike's shoulder. No, did not Mike discover that the two men outside were not my parents?

No way, I can't let Mike know my eyesight has recovered.

With the help of Mike, I came to the dining room. On the table was a large plate of grilled meat.

Seeing me go downstairs, the man and the woman came over in high glee. "Sherry, here you are. We were waiting for you to have dinner together!"

I decided not to pretend anymore.

"I've got my sight back. You're not my parents." I said coldly.

Mike asked in surprise, "Sherry, what are you talking about? They are your parents!"

What? Even Mike said they were my parents?

The woman rushed over and hugged me in surprise. "That's great, Sherry. Mom is really happy that your sight is back!"

I pushed her away with strength. "You are not my mother. My mother has been killed by you, and you made her barbecue for dinner."

The man gaped at me. "Sherry, what are you talking about? Mom is right there in front of you. What bodies are there?"

"Don't keep pretending." I rushed to the kitchen.

But the kitchen was clean and there was no blood. There was only the head of a large pig.

"This is a wild boar I specially bought from the farmer for you," the man said helplessly.

I do not believe what they say. I opened all the cabinets madly.

But I could not find my mother's head at all.

What's going on here?

The woman cried sadly, "Sherry, what's wrong with you? Dad and mom are right in front of you!"

How did my mother's head disappear?

I looked at Mike with tears in my eyes. "They are really not my parents. I saw my mother's head fall out of the cupboard just now!"

Mike looked at me in disbelief and said with difficulty, "Sherry, they are really your parents."

Then he took out his phone and showed me the photos on it.

In the photo, I was standing in the middle with my parents kissing my face on both sides, very happy.

It was taken three months ago, and I am not blind.

I could not believe what I saw. I brushed my face white.

I gawked at them.

Am I really that sick?

They were really my parents, and I was sick and delusional and thought they were not my parents.

Suddenly, I remembered the words I found under the bed before.

I can't wait to go back to my room to check what it says and find out the truth.

"I'm sorry, everyone. I'm probably hallucinating. I need to go to my room and rest." I said apologetic.

None of them stopped me, and I walked up the stairs.

As soon as I entered the room, I locked the door and crawled to the underbed.

It says:

"Sherry, I'm you from the last cycle. Now you are repeating the same thing. This is your fifth time."

"Although it sounds incredible, the two people below are not your parents. Don't believe what they say."

"Don't trust Mike, either."

"At the end of each round, you will lose the memory of the last round, but the fourth time you are lucky enough to keep the memory. These words are for you, who are now experiencing the fifth round."

"Don't believe the police either, they won't come, and you'll be dead by 10:00 tonight, entering the sixth cycle, unless you kill them before then."

"Maybe you don't believe me, but Mike will stop you from killing them. He will make up all kinds of lies."

The words on the bed shocked me. I checked the time. It's already nine thirty-five. There are still twenty-five minutes left before I die.

I've decided to kill the three people downstairs.

So I opened the door and walked down quietly.

I saw them in the kitchen drinking red wine and tucking into roast meat.

My heart is beating fast.

"She doesn't seem to believe us," the woman said.

"Why don't we not kill her?" the man said fiercely.

"I think she went downstairs," Mike said in a low voice.

The man suddenly turned around and looked in my direction!

I hid back quickly.

I heard footsteps coming up the stairs.

"Where are you, my dear daughter, Sherry?"

The woman's gloomy voice echoed in the room.

I hid in the storage room, tightly holding the knife in my hand, the whole body kept breaking a cold sweat.

It was raining heavily outside.

A huge lightning bolt, and I saw a pair of eyes in the gap.

"I found you!"

I was dragged out by the man.

The woman pressed hard against my shoulder.

"Why don't you believe us, Sherry? You are seriously ill."

I was so nervous and frightened that I bit the woman's hand with all my strength.

The woman let go of her hand in pain and I stabbed her arm with a knife.

"Sherry!"

Mike came running up quickly. "Sherry, what are you doing? They are your parents! You are sick. Here is your psychiatric report. Read it yourself!"

After he said that, Mike threw a report at me.

I picked up the report and saw that it said that my spirit was extremely unstable, accompanied by symptoms like imagination and illusion.

"Sherry, I didn't cheat on you. That female colleague fell down and I helped her up. I didn't expect you to run away without my explanation. That was why the car accident happened."

"Sherry, dad and mom have worked very hard to take care of you. Put down the knife and stop it."

Mike looked at me gravely.

At this time, the words under the bed appeared in my mind.

"Mike will make up all kinds of lies to stop you."

For a moment, many pictures appeared in my mind of my mother when I was a child. To protect me, a small piece of flesh was scraped off the back of the hand, leaving a nasty scar.

When mom was not at home, dad helped me braid my hair clumsily.

When I learned to ride a bike, my father protected me carefully behind my back.

Their faces were so gentle and kind in front of me.

But it was definitely not the face of the man and the woman in front of me.

No matter what my mom and dad become, it doesn't make me scared or afraid.

I made up my mind to cut their throats with a knife.

"Stop!" Mike shouted, trying to stop me.

Can't trust him, the words come back to me.

I waved the knife on his body.

I thought they would fight, but they did not.

There was hate in their eyes and a flash of fear.

In a flash, the eyes disintegrated into a lot of snowflakes.

Then my real parents emerged from the snowflakes.

They smiled at me and said, "That's great. Sherry, you finally made it."

The tears kept falling from my eyes.

In the end, they also turned into snowflakes and disappeared in front of me.

Extra chapter

"Dr Davis, Sherry has woken up."

Dr Davis smiled.

"The fifth time she was hypnotized, she defeated herself. How is she now?"

"She has been crying. I think she is not used to it."

"Give her a break! Now let's take a look at Sherry's treatment."

Sherry was twenty-six years old.

Her husband, Mike, had an affair and was discovered by her. Her parents accompanied her to a seaside villa for a vacation. Mike wants to steal Sherry's property, so he colluded with his lover and brother to sneak into the seaside villa of Sherry's family. He planned to kill them and then disguise them as an accident of going on a cruise ship explosion.

They first brutally killed Sherry's mother who suddenly came out to the bathroom in the middle of the night, and unexpectedly alerted Sherry's father. He was smart enough to know that something bad had happened. He quietly ran to Sherry's room and let Sherry hide under the bed.

Poor Sherry could do nothing but watch her father's throat being cut open.

Before Sherry's father died, he even made a mouth shape for Sherry, telling her not to be afraid.

Although Sherry escaped by car, she had a car accident later because Mike chased her.

Although the three bad guys were all brought to justice, after that, Sherry had survivors syndrome. She felt extremely guilty. She hated herself for losing her parents' lives because of Mike, and for not being able to help her father escape. Because of Sherry's cowardice and self abasement, she had been living in pain all the time and began to suffer from complications such as delusion and illusion.

Sherry imagined that her parents were still alive, but according to her description, what she saw was the face of Mike's lover and his lover's brother.

In order to cure her, we hypnotized Sherry. In the end, Sherry overcame her fear and got her own forgiveness.
