Who is the real Animal

Day 8

By Joy Published 4 years ago 4 min read

“Look mommy! Look at the big kitty!” A little girl shouted. “Yes dear, very beautiful.” The mom grabbed a little girls hand, and walked away from the cage. I looked into the cage, and didn’t see a beautiful animal. I saw an animal in pain. The king of the jungle, now just an attraction. I sighed and walked away from the large animal.

To the enclosure with the monkeys in it, I saw one of the zookeepers, trying to feed what look like a young monkey. The animal was having none of it though, he smacked the zoo keeper in the face. I let out a little giggle. Until I saw the zookeepers response, he smacked the animal right in the face, Then grabbed it by the back of its neck and threw it across the cage. The monkey screamed and ran over to the others. The zookeeper cussed something and then walked out of the enclosure. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I knew the zoo was under terrible ownership, but I had no idea these beautiful creatures were under such abuse.

I felt sorry for them, and walked around trying to find someone in charge, to tell them what I just saw. Finally found a manager. I explained what I just seen and his reply shocked me. “The monkey probably deserved it,” he said. Then wish me a good day and walked away. I stood there in shock. I couldn’t believe someone who is in charge of taking care of such amazing creatures, could care so little about them. I walked back over to the enclosure with the monkeys, and saw them all holding the scared little monkey. Thinking to myself something needs to be done about this. I walked over to see where the rhinos and hippos were. Only to see the poor animals so malnourished, you could see their ribs and spine. I walked over to the bird enclosure, to see birds with cuts and missing feathers. The more I walked around this zoo the more angry I got. The giraffe enclosure had no food in sight. The wolves where skinny and panting. Finally ended at the big cat enclosure. I couldn’t help but notice that the locks weren’t very big. A crazy thought shot in my head, “I could easily come here after hours, they have minimal security, and just let these beautiful animals go.” I sighed again knowing that was just a wild thought. I started to walk out of the zoo, I couldn’t take anymore. And almost like the animals heard my voice, I saw the monkeys scream and wave me over. I slowly walked over and they got quiet. The small one I saw smack the zookeeper crawled over to me. He was hiding something. He took his little hand slide it through the bars and handed me a ring of keys. The look on his face said it all. “Don’t worry little one I’ll let you free.”

Sure enough, after hours it was minimal security. I knew they had been understaffed for a while but this is ridiculous. I walked straight over to the monkey enclosure first and unlock the door. The monkeys rushed out climbing up the trees, they jumped over the front gate to the zoo and were gone. I proceeded to let out all the other animals and sure enough they all found their way out. The last enclosure was the big cat area. I was more scared to let these guys out, but they looked like they were in so much pain, so malnourished, and abused… I pushed my fear aside and I unlocked the first door. A beautiful jaguar slowly walked out, we locked eyes and I could feel sweat drip down my neck. He nodded at me and I nodded back. And just like that he was gone. So I released the others.

I was now walking through an empty zoo with a big fat smile on my face. I hope these animals could find someplace better than this. Little did I know these animals didn’t just want a new home, they wanted revenge.

Back in town the monkeys had destroyed window after window. They ransacked buildings, convenient stores, and cars. They bit people, and smashed the light pole in their path. The Rhinos, hippos, antelope’s, zebras, and giraffes had turned into a full on stampede. Anyone in their path to smash into roadkill. A car in their path, got flatten like a pancake. Anyone who tried to run away turned into prey, and was hunted down until trampled. I could hear the screams from the zoo, but that didn’t stop my smile.

The large cats are now caught up with the other animals. It was there turn to get their revenge. They hunted the people like gazelle. No one stood a chance. People are getting mauled, their throat slit open, limbs ripped straight off their body, heads bit clean off and anything else that got in those cats way were completely slaughtered. I could hear grown men scream like a little girls.

The animals had made their way through the town, leaving a path of death and destruction. I knew something like this would happen, but I have no idea how bad. These animals had in their hearts full of hate for us. But if you think about it, who is the real animals here?
