”We need to leave!” Danielle grabbed Crystals arm and ran out of the room. “The keys!!” Crystal ran back into the room. Danielle followed quickly after, slamming the door and locking it quickly. They tore the room apart, with no luck. Danielle figured when they left for lunch the cleaning lady took their keys and phones. They both got quiet and sat on the bed. “What should we do?” Crystals words came out shakey because she was trying not to cry. Thoughts whirled in Danielle’s head. What should they do? What could they even do? They can‘t just walk out right? What even are those things? I can probably just hotwire the car? Wait…
“I KNOW HOW TO HOTWIRE A CAR!” Danielle jumped up and it starteled Crystal. “What?” Crystal said completely confused. “My dad worked in a body shop and he said I needed to know a coupke things in case I get stranded. He showed me how to change a tired, cool a car, and at the time I didn’t know why I needed to know, but he taught be how to hotwire a car! Lets get to the car!“ Danielle grabbed Crystals wrist again and yanked her to the door, but stopped with her hand on the knob. ”Well lets go” Crystal grabbed at the door knob, Danielle quickly stopped her. She put her pointer finger to her lips and quietly said “shhh” They both stood completely frozen. They could hear loud chanting and yelling. Danielle quietly dropped to all fours and crawled over to the window. Crystal followed closely behind. They both peeked over to see what the commotion was all about. Crystal fainted again. Danielle watched as at least 20 clown like creatures gathered around a huge bonfire. There was the old lady who killed and skinned Jenny, and there was also the server standing next to the chef who snapped Lily in half. They all looked deformed and had clown like features. Then Danielle finally noticed why Crystal fainted. Her stomach turned inside out and she quickly sat down putting her head in her head.
Over the bonfire Jennys skin was hung up. Almost like when you make beef jerky. In the hands of the clowns was the rest of Jenny, Hands, arms, legs, guts, and other parts being either being cooked over the fire like marshmellows on a stick or eaten. Danielle sat trying to catch her breath. She knew they just had to make it to the car, then her and crystal could escape and get the cops. She started shaking Crystal awake. Her eyes slowly open and she about to scream, but Danielle quickly put her hand over her mouth. They both sat in the quiet for what felt like hours. “We have to get out of here. Lets run to the car and get out of here.” Danielle crawled back over to the door. Crystal remained frozen and in shock. “Lets go!” Danielle motioned her to come. They both stood by the door and were taking deep breathes. “Look at me. We are going to get out okay? We just need to run. Run faster then you thought possible. Straight to the car okay?” Danielle was looking at Crystals fearful face. All Crystal could do was nod her head. They slowly opened the door, checking the hall. Coast was clear. They booked it to the elevator and clicked the lobby floor. Danielle could hear her heart in her ears. DING. The elevator doors opened and they both started to run to the car. The lobby was completely empty again, the freaky clown monsters were probably all at the bonfire. They ran to the parking lot and then to the car. Of course the car door was locked. Crystal picked up a near by rock and smashed the passer window. The car alarm went off. Danielle looked over at the bonfire, it was about 30 yards away, but her could see everyone of those monsters staring directly at them.
The monsters started running at them full speed. They both got in to the car and locked the doors, Danielle needed to work fast. She started grabbing wires and the car start to make noises. She’d never felt this much presssure in her life. Everything was spinning and her hands were shaking. The car started. Danielle breathed a quick sigh of relief. AHHHHHHHHHH!!! She looked up and saw the car surrounded by the clowns, quickly looked over in the passenger seat to see Crystal starting to get dragged out of the window. Danielle put the car in reverse, slamming on the gas, which knocked down a couple of those clowns. She quickly put the car in drive and started to take off. A couple clowns slammed on the windshield. Then the car turned off. They now completely covered the car. Danielle looked over to see Crystal fighting to stay in the car, she grabbed her arms and was trying to keep her in. The large clown they saw at the restaurant got a grip on her neck. with one quick pull, Crystals head came clean off. Her body became limp as blood sprayed the car. Danielle let her go and they quickly dragged the rest of her out. She slid down into a ball on the floor, putting her arms around her head. They only real protection she had was the steering wheel. The monster were slamming the car all around her.
BANG BANG BANG “House keeping!” Danielle shot up. She was in her hotel bed. BANG BANG BANG “House keeping!” “Oh no! We are okay“ her voice sounded groggy. The room was almost pitch black. She saw her phone on the night stand and turned it on. The screen was so bright it caused black spots to form in her eyes. 10:27am “What the heck... What a freaky dream.” she laid back down and breathed deeply. It was just a dream she thought. Getting up and walking over to the curtains to open them, letting a beautiful bright light in. She looked over the little town. No bonfire, no freaky clowns, just a regular town. People were walking around and shops were open, Cars filled the parking lots. Danielle wanted to cry she was so relieved. “You‘re not gonna believe the dream I had! We really need to lay off the drinks“ she laughed and turned around. Her hands covered her mouth to stop herself from screaming. Crystal laid on the bed, her head had been cut off and blood soaked the sheets. Lily was on the floor, well her lower half of was on the floor, her upper half was on the desk chair. She didn’t see Jenny, but quickly ran to the bathroom to puke. Jenny was in the bathtub… she was skinned and her skin hanged over the towel rack. Danielle puked on the bathroom floor and then fainted.
She woke up a couple hours later, to the smell of her friends dead rotting fleash. She was completely numb. Slowly she got up and made it to the sink. She rinsed her mouth off in the skin, it almost stung and then looked in the mirror. Her face was pale, her eyes were blood shot and her nose was red from what looked like blood, but the worst was her mouth. It looked like a knife cut open each side of her cheeks. Leaving a bloodly smile. She stood froze. Staring at her reflection. Her memory of the night before coming back to her. It was almost like a fog covered it, but it was becoming clear now.
“Come on lets go!!“ Jenny was irritated in the car. Danielle was nervous about leaving her baby alone for the first time. “Do you think she’ll be okay? Maybe I should just stay.” “Girl get in the car! Your hubby is a good guy, he can take care of his kid for one weekend! Plus we aren’t even going far because you were freaking out before. I wanted to completely ditch and go to Europe. Now get in the car! I even got my lashes down for this!” Danielle sighed and got in the car. They started on their way to the hotel, but as every mile past Danielle’s anxiety grew and wouldn't shut up about it either. “Look girl, I know you are like all natural and whatever, but I have some anxiety meds. Just take one.” Jenny reached for her purse and pulled out a white bag of pills. “What kind of meds come in a white bag?” Danielle took two and was observing them. “Why does it matter just take them and you’ll feel better.“ Jenny handed her a water bottle, and Danielle reluctantly took the pills. Danielle not only felt better, she felt lighter then air and all giggly. Shortly after Danielle saw something on the road and swerved to dodge it, but Jenny was acting as if she didn’t see it. Then everything got weird.
Danielle looked at herself in the mirror and asked “what were in those pills…” She walked over to Jennys purse and dumped it out. The white bag fell to the floor and she picked it up. No label, but on the inside there was a little hand written note.
“These are powerful Jenny. I know you‘re used to more melow shrums but this is a new mix I’ve been working on. Take half of one MAX! And have a good time”
Danielle dropped the paper and sat down on the bed. Her memory all came back. She remembered getting to the hotel and feeling off. She remembered drinking way to much. She remembered getting to the room. She remembered her friends falling asleep. And she remembered slughtering all of them.
There were no clowns, no monsters, no cannibals.
All of it was in Danielle‘s head. She did this. She was the monster. She was what was wrong with this town. She was the real clown.
