What Horrifying Creature Forced These Residents To Abandon Their Homes?
Is this the most terrifying BIGFOOT encounter to have ever been recorded...

North America has been home to many unsettling and bizarre tales, some of which sound too strange to be true. Ghost stories, tales of cryptids, and alien sightings are rampant across the continent, with the United States alone claiming to have seen some of the most famous cryptids in the world, such as the Mothman of Point Pleasant, the Wendigo, the Crawlers, the Flatwoods Monster, and of course, Bigfoot. Today's video delves into one of the most peculiar alleged sightings of the world-famous ape-man, which takes place in the remote tundra forests of Alaska, far beyond the realms of the Pacific Northwest region of the USA, even past Canada.
The story takes place in Portlock, Alaska, a once-bustling hub filled with people and buildings that is barely recognizable today. Founded in 1921 by the United States Post Office on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula, Portlock was initially established as a cannery for local fishermen to catch and prepare salmon for sale. By 1940, 31 residents had called the town home, and life in Portlock was almost idyllic. However, strange occurrences began to set in, with reports of creepy happenings in the town as early as 1905, when cannery workers left their jobs prematurely due to something in the nearby woods that had been bothering them.
In 1941, hunters from Portlock began to head into the woods towards the mountains, only to fail to return from their trips. Sometimes, the town's people would find the bodies, with one instance involving a missing hunter whose body turned up several days after his disappearance on the rocks adjacent to the nearby lagoon. The body bore wounds that were completely different from anything the town's people had seen before, with no obvious claw marks. Other bodies shortly followed, and footprints of a man-like animal were discovered, leading many residents to flee the town and settle instead in the nearby town of Nanwalek. Tom Larson, a fisherman, was the first to see the alleged creature, a huge, hairy monster that was silently watching him from across the river as he fished. Despite his efforts to stop the strange occurrences, when he returned to search the area, there was no sign of the creature.
